RE: SH.28 or K4.6?
The Sh is an excellent engine. Very easy to tune adn has lots of power. I have a Sh 28 P3 in a MGT and it hauls. Hard to keep the front end down also. I have not had problems getting parts for the sh engines.

What engine would be best for a savage? Would the SH .28 be more powerful than the stock K4.6 engine?

SH is only oneGoldenLion engine. Golden Lion also includes LRP, Mach, and I believe some of the XTM engines as well.
Another cheap but more powerful engines are big blocks made by STS (D28M, 3port & 5port, D30M).
Bear in mind that all these engines, Golden Lion, STS, and even HPI's Kingstar(what HPI calls Nitrostar) are all chinese engines. That means the quality of all of these engines are about the same (sub-par, not as good as the Japanese OS engines, or the Italian Rossi engines such as Nova Rossi or Mario Rossi's GRP).
