Hi Guys,

I have a Hitec - FM Supreme IIS 8ch. Ultra narrow dual conversion Auto shift receiver.

When I turned "ON" the Receiver first then the Transmitter. However then when I moved the sticks nothing worked. Absolutely dead.

When I powered up the other way around the Transmitter first then the Receiver everything worked fine.

Why? Besides the fact that your suppose to turn on the Transmitter first, does this happen. Is this the narrow band tuning at work?

I plan to use this in Q-500 as I have before with many of my other Hitec Supreme Receivers. Will there be any issues using this narrow band receiver in Q-500? It almost seems like a problem waiting to happen if you forget, or someone else does not know about this and turns on the plane first thinking you turned on the Transmitter first or even if it happens just by accident.

Hey Hitec Guys, whats up?

Thanks in advance

Ed

Common occurence with many modern receivers irrespective of brand. Refer answer to your previous post BRAND NEW Auto shift Receiver Hitec - Strange behavior:
The HFD-08RO Supreme 2 features:
Auto Shift: All new Hitec receivers with Auto Shift are available in just one version and can be used with any brand of modern FM transmitter.
Auto Gain Control: Receivers that feature Auto Gain lock onto the transmitters signal with higher accuracy than ever before and can even discriminate between two transmitters on the same channel! [= if a RX with AGC is turned on first and there is any form of signal close by, it will then ignore the user's TX when it is turned on last.]
refer also "Receiver - FAQ, guides and aids to best reception" on my web page."

All Due Respect Alan:

I appreciate the answer, but I would like to hear from HItec since this is a Manufactuers Forum / HITEC forum. If you don't work for HITEC you should not be answering for them. If you do then I apologise.

I would like to hear from Mike Galvin or Mike Mayberry, if you guys are available. Also does Alan here represent HITEC for you?

Ed

Ed,

Alan is a Hitec rep in New Zealand and is authorized to post here, but thanks for your concern.

He is correct in his reply... You must turn the transmitter on first with the auto shift receivers.

Mike.

Thanks Mike,

I did not know Alan was a HITEC Rep and I wanted to hear from a HITEC Rep and I know you and Mike Galvin are. My apologies to you Alann I just never saw you post here as a Rep . Thanks for the info, but why does this happen to these auto shift receivers and not the older supreme receivers?

Ed

The autoshift receivers are just a different animal.

The vary nature of auto shift RX's requires them to interpret the TX signal (negative and or positive shift) and work accordingly. This simply means the RX on power up listens/looks for the strongest signal on the appropriate frequency and sets itself to work therein. If you power the TX after the fact, the RX has been surfing so to speak and may not lock-in to your TX…

Standard RX's are dumb so to speak and only work with a signal on the appropriate frequency and shift therefore on power up they’re already to work.

In either circumstance (smart or dumb RX’s) can and will wreak havoc on the flight system if not properly initialized (TX powered up and then RX), At some point in time someone coined a phrase for this anomaly known as “hard-over”. What happens is the servos power up without benefit of a control signal and move errantly at will typically travelling too extremes causing control system binding, gear-train and or motor and amplifier failures if left unattended.
