I tried the CF landing gear that Lewis sold and used it on a couple planes. It worked pretty good, but eventually started to delam. It was also quite stiff, especially if landing on a hard surface. The plane had a tendancy to bounce, instead of the gear absorbing it like an aluminum set will.

Great Planes makes a set that works well. I believe this was the gear that use to come standard on the Vortex, not sure if it still is though.

I received an email from LCS yesterday. He has shut down due to time commitments of his "full-time" job. Dang work getting the way.

Bruce Dechastel still has some advertised on his website. These are the ones that come with his Shotguns and Slingshots. They have been improved over the years but still will break near the axel after several bad landings. His website is www.bigbruceracing.com

Hello,
I spoke to Lewis several times about the gear, and I did get a couple of sets from him. To be honest, Lewis said he just just not justify the cost . He found a very good source for alumium gear that I got from him and they worked perfect. I saw him at the Nats last year, and he even had the new aluminum gear on his own plane.
As far as MIA, I understand he has moved up the food chain quiet a bit at work in the last year and will be coming back to racing and starting up his site soon. He just sent me 4 of his laser cut Pacemakers he just ran, they look great. When I call hime I will tell him to pop in here and say hi

David

Darrol Cady offers a replacement CF Q500 gear, at least he showed us some in Phoenix Feb-08. They look a bit thicker/tougher than the stock Bruce gears if thats a requirement.
