Horizon now has the Twist 150 at $149. If I recall it was $249 a while back. I'm leaning gas on almost all new builds and love the Zenoah G-20 ei. Has any one installed one in the Twist 150? How does it balance? Mounting space? Muffler configuration?

the 20i might be a bit small. look at the evolution 35 or g26ei. i would more rather have the 35cc.

I confess I'm more musing than serious as I've a hanger full of planes and two kits in the box to build, but, I've never owned a 3D capable plane and saw the good price on the Twist 150. I've a birthday coming up however and haven't yet nailed anything down. I own a couple of G-20 ei engines and doubt I'd be serious enough about 3D to invest in both a plane and an engine to check it out.

I'm not sure the G26 would be a better choice for the reason that the G26 is ten oz heavier than the G20. The G26 is rated at 8700 rpm with an APC 16x8 whereas the G20 will do 9000 rpm with a 16x6 APC. I've never tacked the G-20 with a 16x8. The G20 has a magnesium crankcase housing helping to keep it light. I've no doubt that the G-26 is slightly stronger but is it that much stronger to counter the weight difference. One report on RCU indicated a G-26 mag version would not produce unlimited vertical on an Ulstra Stick Light until after it was converted to ei and lightened. The G20 ei will do unlimited on the USL.

The Twist specs indicate 8.5 to 9.5 lbs. The G-20 will produce unlimited vertical up to 10.25 lbs with the stock muffler. An after market muffler will reduce weight by 2 oz and produce 300 more rpms.

Whether any additional weight would be needed to balance either engine would play into the choice.
