Hello all,
I'm posting to announce not something new, but something that's never been posted about here. I am part of a group that races every Sunday (weather permitting) here in Fayetteville/Ft. Bragg/Pope AFB, NC. Our current classes are stock touring car and Mini Cooper. Other on-road classes may be run with enough interest (3+ racers on a weekend). We race in the Ponderosa Shopping Center at the corner of Santa Fe and Yadkin. This weekend is our trophy race. We currently have 16 stock touring cars pre-registered for this event, with more expected on race day. We generally have a turn out of 3-5+ Mini Coopers per weekend. There are currently some racers that have an interest in 1/12th scale cars, but usually never have a turn out of them due to not enough people with an interest. Other classes we have had in the past are monster truck oval, nitro touring car, 1/18th scale, electric stadium truck oval, and run what ya brung (misc. cars that may not have enough to race that day). Our most popular class is by far the electric touring car class. Most of the people that have run other classes with us have ended up with an electric touring car, also, our Mini Cooper drivers also run in the touring car class. Practice usually starts between 11 am and noon, with races starting around 1 pm. Each class runs four 5 minute qualifiers in a staggered start, and a 5 minute heads up start main. Participation permitting, we have 2-3 mains for touring car, each containing about 8 cars. The winner of the lower main bumps up to the next main. Timing is done by personal transponder, with rentals available. Most of our touring car drivers run brushless motors with LiPO packs, but brushed motors with NiMH packs are still competitive. Our racers run a small variety of chassis. 3 generations of Associated TC's are the most common (TC3, TC4, and TC5), the next most common are the Losi JRX-S chassis family, and a few run Schumacher and Xray. The Mini Cooper class is similar to an IROC class, where all drivers must abide by a strict set of equipment rules. By no means is this all of the information about us, but if you do require more info, PM me and I can point you in the right direction. Hope to see you out.

Finished with the trophy race yesterday. We had a field of 21 electric touring cars. We even had some sponsored drivers race. Great times were had by all participants. Our fastest time was from our A-Main winner with a 19/5.07.88. Our TQ was 18/5.09.81. B-Main winner ran 17/5.17.22. The C-Main winner ran 17/5.18.33. These times average out to A-Main 15/4.22, B-Main 13/4.54, C-Main 8/2.93. These laps/times were averaged by adding the laps run and dividing them by the number of drivers entered in the race to include those that DNS and had issues and only ran a couple of laps, then doing the same with the race time.

If anyone is interested, come check us out tomorrow. It's just going to be a regular Sunday race day for us (no trophies). We look forward to seeing some new faces.

Another update. We are working on starting a new weekly class...Trans Am. It is supposed to be a more "equal" class than regular ETC. The "hot ticket" equipment is not going to be a factor for this class. The first race for Trans-Am is supposed to be May 11th to give the first few Trans -Am racers a chance to get their cars ready. We will still be running electric touring car as well. Come on out for the fun.
