Status: offline 		Hey guys, I built a custom truck and used the Jato transmission. Just the other day I upgraded to the 3.3 and its been running very well. Today I took it out after installing a revo tuned exhaust pipe and was messing around a bit when it just stopped moving. The spur is turning but nothing is going to the wheels, I know im going to have to pull apart the transmission but I was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem to this and I can head it off and just buy whatever parts I need. Any response would would be appreciated. If you wanna see the custom truck just go and search for 2 speed rustler in the forum search and you can see the whole write up.

Status: offline 		i did before i switched to rrp gears in my xxxnt my dif was to loose so it heated up my gears and melted them smooth and melted the balls into the gear .I dont know if rrp or anyone makes metal gears for the jato but i bet they do ,get a set it will help

Status: offline 		I have a new integey 28t gear and i wanted to know if this will kill my acceleration and only help top end. Do i need a metal spur gear cause i fear the metal 28t would eat up the plastic spur gear I wouldn't necesarily be opposed to higher top speed but I don't have a radar gun so i mean being able to tell the diff between 60 and 65 or 65 and 70 is hard. I put the integey bulkhead in cause the screw holes stripped out of the plastic one. Seems that mostly I only break or bend the suspension (not steering) rods which i just bend back but they would strip out the threads of the bulkhead. I added the integey 6.0 tunned pipe and it seems fine but whats the word on that exhaust, I kinda bought it before I thought it through. I mean its hard to tell where the line of diminishing return is when tunning the high speed needle or adding perf upgrades period. I mean how does eveyone know when its performance is maxed out without a radar gun. The thing is hella fast as it is but I cant really pull first gear wheelies but sometimes second gear i can but i think i have it leaned out to the max safe temp. Also its hot most days I run, like 90-95F so im assuming that is playing a huge role versus when I run it in a month or two durring fall when its like 75F. I tried adjusting the low speed needle a bit but dont notice much change in throttle response. The book said that done correctly it should be hard to keep the front wheels on the ground when applying throttle from stop. Like it should wana wheelie from stop with just a bit of throttle. I do use a laser temp gun to make sure i don't cook the motor and wondered if temp at glow plug is supposed to be lower than the head. Cause when say I get a temp of 240-250 at the glow plug i can find temps of 300 or so on the head in between the cooling fins, is that normal? Thats a jumble of questions and statements so I appreciate any answers. thanks

Status: offline 		Hey guys. I just picked up a used Jato 3.3 in a trade and all I can say is wow. The thing is fast. I'm a 15 year RC plane pilot and have about 3 years helo flying as well. I have always loved anything Nitro powered so 4 wheeled vehicle was next. I went through the whole car and checked for damage and missing fastners. All is well and got her tuned this side of rich with a good idle. I have a couple of what might seem like silly questions to you all but remember I'm new at this car stuff. I have two boys that I would like to let drive this thing but in it's current stock configuration, it is way too fast. Even with the trigger limit trick it hauls the mail once it revs up and was wondering if part throttle runs are good for the motor first? She isn't running that hot. Will changeing the gear up to a 58T slow it down enough or do you also need to down size the the smaller gear and adjuts the gear mesh. A good "slowest" or "lowest geared" configuration for the Jato is what I am looking for without adversely effecting the engine. We will be solely running in the grass(Which can be high) with some short street runs. It seems Tower carries all the different size gears for the Jato. Help me slow this thing down

Almost forgot, Anyone hook a header tank up to their Jato? We do it on Helos to keep the fuel to the carb consistant and elimnate bubbles from the vibrations and thought for one,it would add run time to the Jato which is very thirsty and also help with bubbles in the lines. A 4 oz plane tank would fit up front under the body.

Status: offline 		Just got nack in from running my header tank idea and the thing runs forever. At least twice as long. I stuffed a 4 Oz Aircraft tank in behind the front shock towers with foam in between. I just need to rubber band the tank to the tower frame to keep it from sliding side to side. Did some street runs to get the intermittant transistion hiccup out. About every third run with a slight downhill, slow at first and then mash it I would get the hiccup. I would let up and hit it again and she would be fine. I basically had to tweak up the low speed richer to get rid of it. It was cool this morning she would smoke good on acceleration but not 4 stroking. Just strong pulling and a few wheelies once the tires heat up. She is running strong and consistant now. I even did a few grass tumbles and the extra tank held in place good and kept running. I decided not to mess with the gearing and just leave it stock. Definately need new tires for the grass. The anacondas aren't worth anything in the grass. Any suggestion of a good all around tire for both on and off road?

Status: offline 		I went with the Victorys in the rear after my first curb meeting at about 40MPH. One steering link snapped but other then that everything is good. She runs alot better in this high Pa grass. Still gets to spinning at higher thottle settings but what a blast!. I love my Jato!

So i took a look at my jato 3.3 9 havent ride it like 5 months now (( So i took it out the garage tried to play with it, and my brakes dont work. it looks that the plates aint moving but when i loosin the screws the little cube moves, and when i tighten the screws alittle it stuck, it look to me that it doesnt have enough power.
Well other problem if i loosen the brake pad screws and let the cube move it wont get back in place i have to reset it and i know it has to have some push with the brake pads to slide it in . but i use my finger as a pad to push it in. it goes in and then pops out. the last thing i did was changing the 2nd speed gear i had to remove the whole back end, so maby i puted something not in its place??
Please give me an answer i wan to ride it and here in Chicago it gettin cold like temperature is 60's so in month it will be too cold ((

my first 2 questions about my Jato have come up...

1. how do i adjust the brake so that it will grab/slow down the car better?? when I push the throttle/brake backwards, the brake doesnt seem to grab much... is there a way to make it grab a little more, without too much drag??

2. my steering trim is WAY off, I have it set on the radio, about a 1/4 turn to the left, and when I try to turn around one direction, it's almost impossible, but turning the other way is much easier!

This thing is pretty much stock. It was only driven 5 times (to be broken in) and in MINT condition when I got it. Just curious how to make these few minor adjustments. Any help would be greatly appreciated guys... Thanks ALOT!

I also added some TRX off road tires to the rear, because the Anaconda's will just spin on the pavement, this thing is wicked!!

P.S. The Jato is a SPEED MACHINE!! This thing SCREAMS down the street!!!

It's about 4 months old and maybe its time to change the oil for maintenance purposes? What do you think?

Status: offline 		Hey TMaxx, I just picked up a used one as well. I tweaked my brakes by putting some fuel tubing over the spring on the break linkage side. I have about 1Cm of thread past the adjuster and measure my fuel tubing from there. Also make sure it rolss freely as mine was cranked down with some brake drag. Just unscrew the pads screws a tad and you should be good. I have nice braking now even at fullspeed and will only lock up on gravel or soft dirt.

I had added an extra tank from my plane stuff and I should have flushed it. I just cleaned my air filter and was running it last night and it went way out of tune. Leaned out on throttle up. After disassembling everything, it looks as though some old gunk from the second tank clogged up the HS needle. Now she digs 40 ft trenches on launch in my yard.

I used after run oil in my filter because I wasn't sure about 30W motor oil. Any input on doing this? It runs great now. I just wasn't sure if after run would not be good for the filter.

Status: offline 		What would be some good OFF Road tires to get for this thing? I have the stock anacondas still, they still have tread on them, but all it does it DONUTS on the road!!! I changed out the rear 2 tires for a set of TRX alias (i think)(in my pics above), they have much better traction, but I wanna find a good set of 4 tires that would be good for OFF road... any suggestions would be appreciated.
