Here's my new addition, the Align K10263T case. Fits fine. Head button and tail case is snug, but the whole thing definitely works exactly as needed.

Same one I carry my birds in. I have a new vendor that does cases and their aluminum is $40 and the carbon fiber is $50, we will see how they work when they get here.

Hank sent me a long email the other day, they have revamped the 006 and he claims his parts issues are now resolved and wants me to give him an order. I am thinking it is time to take him up on it so we will see, my art tech vendor has been really coming through and I think I will continue with him on the 006 and shark stuff but I am still of the opinion if you are going to replace it use the best (microheli) where you can.

ginnz -> RE: Shark/Hone/Eagle tuner shop (5/12/2008 10:24:42 PM)

man, i need one of those cases.....

actually, i have a coiple bows that i hunt/target shoot with, and i was batting around the idea of getting a large bow case, i saw some in cabella's, i could fit my shark450 and falcon 3d/batts/TX and some blades in it. it would be perfect for taking along camping and such. 2 heli's in one case!

if i can find one big enough, ill put my BH500 and Shark 450 in it at the same time.

xodarap1 -> RE: Shark/Hone/Eagle tuner shop (5/12/2008 11:04:02 PM)

A hard golf case works great as long as that's not too big to fit in your car or to carry around for ya. It's been working great for me and you can pick them up for next to nothin at yard sales or even for free if you run into a cool enough person. I put the CX2, king2, shark 450 and the H550 in one of those cases, including the batteries, tx, tools and a few parts.., close the lid and go. Here are some pics of it on this page: http://www.rchelicoptertown.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1515&page=7

I heard a chevy suburban works well and with gas the way it is they are going really cheap, they are just really tough to get in the trunk of a car and you can't put them in the overhead storage on a plane but they will hold like 50 helis, lol. Maybe they need to come up with a pocket heli like the pocket fisherman, that would be cool. Xap, you're a trader, what kinda buzz you think that would create on the market huh?

The bottom right is the one I have ordered in, it is actually designed to hold up to a 500 class

The hard golf case is about the perfect length, but it's not tall enough.. but i'll fix that. It does fit in my Z if i fold the back seat down heheh..
No worries here about ever taking the helis on a planes overhead compartment in todays day and age.. heck, with people so paranoid anymore, they would probably confiscate the helis saying they were terrorist tools or somethin lol.
I am surprised that there aren't a slew of budget priced multi-heli carryin' hard cases available. There sure is a great market for stuff like that. Most of the hard cases I've seen fit up to a 500 heli, tx and then not much else. There are some great military grade cases out there, but they are way too big/heavy and very expensive. I guess this winter it will be time to build a custom case. Not as big as a suburban man, but it doesn't have to be pretty.. just big enough for one tx, some batteries, two 550's side by side facing opposing directions and a 450 and 300 up top. :) Yup.. that would make me happy [:D] [;)]

UfcGuy39 -> RE: Shark/Hone/Eagle tuner shop (5/14/2008 1:08:43 AM)

Rusty, when you can - would you send that pic. of the cases to me via email. I can blow up the post a little, but not big enough. Copy/paste and blow it up - just blurrs the picture out. I will be ordering a case for my Shark, 3 batteries, and Dx6i this weekend.[sm=thumbup.gif]

Hey, UFC, I just tried going to the website listed in the pic (www.rc-capsule.com), and it definitely cleaned the images up a lot... Good lookin' cases!

Demo Up -> RE: Shark/Hone/Eagle tuner shop (5/14/2008 3:17:47 AM)

Thought I'd share my "orientation system". Finished it last night, flew it today for first time, and it worked great. I'd been having some issues when the heli was side-in with sensing which way it was leaning, as well as some other hard-to-describe issues in like 45 degree angle situations. Anyway, wanted to adopt some sort of color-coding, like what Xodarap1 did on his Shark with a yellow zip-tie way back when. The red skid is simply a drinking straw that my kids brought home from a restaurant Saturday night. Had to slit the middle section to get it on, but the ends were mostly press-fit in. The yellow skid is from the margins of an extra garage door warning label that I found. Had to use a lot of little pieces and a lot of Scotch tape, but it works! I really saw a benefit when slow flying side-in when the heli was a long ways away. The contrast is great. Was debating using green on the right, to mimic the same colors as real aircraft navigation/position lights, but went with yellow for the visibility. Me likie.

betapilot -> RE: Shark/Hone/Eagle tuner shop (5/14/2008 7:19:18 AM)

Hey man, if you like night flying or even in the day, I have some killer little led strobes in red and blue. I run the blue in the rear and the red up front so I know if I am seeing red to be cautious, lol. Okay, they look very cool too.

Xap - I wonder if an airline caddy would work, like the skycaps use. It has built in fold out wheels to assist with the weight and are desinged to fit in as small a compartment as possible. I was looking at the skycaps at the charter service after you mentioned big cases and it would probably hold four if you were imaginative. I will find out where they get them and what they cost and maybe do some experimenting.

betapilot -> RE: Shark/Hone/Eagle tuner shop (5/14/2008 7:21:29 AM)

Hey guy, I can't remember if I sent that picture with my reply email. I am sending another reply just in case so, I think its the alzheimers setting in (see I can't even remember how to spell it).

Thats a great idea.. lemme know what you find out. Thanks!

UfcGuy39 -> RE: Shark/Hone/Eagle tuner shop (5/16/2008 12:49:20 AM)

As for the trex se V2 tail shaft working, no it really doesn't. It has some extending plastic on the tail side, which makes it a tad too wide to fit right inside of the tailcase. It fits, but the screws shut about 1 to 2 mm short of closing on the shaft. I suppose if you were to dremel off the extending plastic, (which acts like a bearing), you can use the 2 metal bearing pieces from the stock in its place. I just figured why bother. Replaced the entire tailcase. I am going to get rid of the stock tailcase this weekend, for the HDX V2 - from with what I've been hearing, it is much better that the Trex and Stock Art-tech. I have found that the stock pitch sliders like to bind, unless I keep it greased up well. PeAce. Ufc...

UFC, is this the one you're gonna pick up?

UfcGuy39 -> RE: Shark/Hone/Eagle tuner shop (5/29/2008 3:52:00 PM)

Betapilot, Did you get the CF Capsule cases in? You were talking about the SJM heli also. Have you started your supply of them yet? Hit me up on the ph. later. I'm still going to put in an order Friday for the Lama for the kid, and the Hdx V2 tailcase.[8D]

Forgot to mention: I put a post up on the beginners forum, re: the SJM heli (400) 500 - asking for some feedback on these, by owners or someone that has owned. A lot of hits, but not one feedback? I know that the V1 and V2 have been around for a while, since like 06' .. The V3 looks really sweet.

ginnz -> RE: Shark/Hone/Eagle tuner shop (5/29/2008 11:55:37 PM)

i must agree on the sjm heli's..... they look real cool! i saw them at hobbycity.com, the 500 looks very appealing to me, i really like the canopy style, and they look low and mean.

if i didnt have 3 heli's already that i constantly need to maintain, id prolly get one!

BTW- is anyone else having issues with the sharks motor mount? in the next few weeks im gonna make some at work, out of aluminum on the cnc machine, im thinking of building them with a heat sink type design milled in the topside to help dissipate the heat from the motor. ill post pics when im done.

if i don't make these by hand, and actually make a program, ill make a couple at a time.....

UfcGuy39 -> RE: Shark/Hone/Eagle tuner shop (5/30/2008 12:01:42 AM)

Haven't had any problems with my motor mount after 3 pretty rough crashes. Yeah, I'm really liking the SJM. The 325 and 400 are actually bigger than normal 450's. I like the frame, mounts, servo location, and super strong tail setup. I just cannot get any feedback on it still. Rusty says that he is going to start carrying the SJM in his stock. I'm hoping that this works out, with some parts also. He says that he has flown this 400, and liked it alot. Said that it is very Quick, and Tight.

UfcGuy39 -> RE: Shark/Hone/Eagle tuner shop (6/11/2008 12:05:43 AM)

Hey Rusty, Found the problem. Was after all a cracked tailboom. I just could not find for the life of me. I spooled the Heli up and down, over and over looking for the source. I left it in the 30% area, with vibration staying constant, looking at both sides. As I watched the tail, I saw the boom shread apart up from the tailcase, about 2" or so. I looked at that several times, and did not see the crack. The vibration though, did finally rip the boom apart, and threw 1 blade off the screw. These blades are definitely tuffer than the old ones. The hole ripped in 1 spot, bouncing the blade off the ceiling, back wall, then hit me in the back. Pretty much stayed in 1 piece.

I will call you soon for the Aluminum Boom, (short on airtime this week). - I will also need a tail shaft. - This ones is really bent up. - and another set of tail blades. The belt actually stayed in tact.
Let me know the price on the belt anyway, as I need to inspect the teeth on it in more detail. May want one, just in case.

betapilot -> RE: Shark/Hone/Eagle tuner shop (6/11/2008 3:35:34 AM)

Dude, I am thinking my water test would have been a better test, lol. Less debris field, glad we did not have the new gyro on it yet. Let me know when you need it and I will get you the aluminum boom and whatever else you need out to you. Hollar at me when you can.

Here is a pic of the latest dragun, I am installing a scorpion 2870 with a danlion HV 33 a esc and some tower pro servos on it.

betapilot -> RE: Shark/Hone/Eagle tuner shop (6/11/2008 9:36:18 PM)

Hey dude, Where you been? I found the parts supplier for the shark/hone that is for real. every part exchanges and the head can be upgraded to the bell/hiller upgrade for the shark. I am doing the new head upgrade as we speak, it is very similar to the dragonus and sjm design mixer and should increase the bird reaction and precision exponentially. I will post a flight and install review as soon as I am done. These part also work for upgrading the shark/hone to a 480 instead of a 450, 4mm main and longer boom along with 355mm blades. Ought to be a pretty cool upgrade, keep me from having to invest in another 500, lol.

Demo Up -> RE: Shark/Hone/Eagle tuner shop (6/12/2008 2:00:33 AM)

Hey, man. I've been around, no major action on the heli front, just flying 'em and recharging 'em! Which is good, I guess, no repairs required! My skills are improving a lot, I'm really enjoying my bird.

Glad to hear that you got the parts source nailed down, you gonna get the list up on your site? Speaking of your site, I see the Eagle Kings are no longer listed, I take it that chapter of the saga is closed?

betapilot -> RE: Shark/Hone/Eagle tuner shop (6/12/2008 3:41:14 AM)

You know, I don't care how good a bird is or how reasonable the price, if there is no customer service then I am out. That is why I never ended up re-ordering through Hank at hone. Man, the girl at lightning heli is my dream of a rep. even though they have already dorked me once on some cases. I think from talking to her though that they are making it up to me with some freebies for my shark 480 project.

UfcGuy39 -> RE: Shark/Hone/Eagle tuner shop (6/30/2008 3:53:49 PM)

Looks like Everyone is out flying for the summer. If there is anyone recording their flying time, why not post some flight video, and/or setup video. There doesn't seem to be much to talk about right now, other than where are we going to fly and what time :}

A good crash video wanted - lol - not really, but the fixup of the bird from a mishap is cool to see.
