redwater71 -> O.S. .12 CV on 0% nitro on home made fuel ... (4/13/2008 5:01:18 PM)

Been really interested in brewing my own fuel, reading up on it just makes me want to do it even more...

I'll be running an OS .12 CV (that's a high compression engine, right ?) .. in a xxx-nt (truggie)

If I keep the oil content around 16-18% .. that should be fine right [this is where I'm not sure] ?

I'm not going to race this engine, more of a bashing engine ...

Any help/hints/tricks will be welcome ! Just tired of paying 45$/Gal to bash around

Has anyone done it for this engine

Not for that engine but my son has been racing his Mach 28 on zero nitro and 20% castor. So far he''s gone through 30 litres (near enough 8 gallons) which works out to about 30 hours of running. I''d keep the oil content reasonably high (~20%) because they''re much more economical without nitro.

Git rid of the head shim or shims. Install the hotest plug that fits that engine, OS A3 maybe?
Use a higher oil content like Downunder suggests because it will run at a much lower fuel flow than a 20-30% nitro fuel.

That should get you started, but you may want to think about increasing the compression ratio further if it does not run as well as you want.
