Very Nice. I have a couple pics of some assembly and details I added to the underside. I will try to post them. Next week I will take some assembled photos.

Excellent detail under the wing!! All I did was put some orange stripes under mine. I'm also jealous of you shop!

Thank you, the shop is small but functional, the hard part is trying to keep it organized . The underside of the plane is all white so something has to be done to help keep orientation. The only complaints I have about the plane are weak landing gear and lack of underside graphics other than that I think the Seagull Planes are a great bargin.

Just got my 260 the other day. Been looking for a first gasser and saw this thread and took the plunge after reading the favourable reviews. Looking at sticking a DLE 30 in her. My first impression is to go with the CA hinges in the wings and elevator but will stick pin hinges in the rudder because of the greater deflections. Will replace the stock control horns with longer versions as the originals are far too short. There is no way they can line up on the hinge line. Also considering changing the colour of the underside for better orientation. Pin and epoxy the engine box. Also noted the standoffs that come with the DLE 30 place the drive hub 12mm further out from the firewall so considering replacing them with 50 mm standoffs. Any build suggestions welcomed.
Cheers, Rick

Dle just came out with a 35 which has more power and rear exhaust for just a few bucks more. I did not use any factory horns or links but I did use the ca hinges and so far they have been fine. I used 1 life battery 3200 mah for both reciever and ignition with a Wike RC IBEF. This helped keep the weight down on the build and has worked perfect so far.

I also made shorter stand offs for the engine and cut the firewall so the carb can sit half way in the fuse.

Thanks for the idea about the battery, the lighter the better and that's good news about the ca hinges.

Matt,

I see you have not used the stock fuel tank. What size tank did you install and what flight times are you looking at ?

cheers, Rick

Rick,
I used a Dubro 14 oz  tank. I set a timer for 12 minutes and have at least 1/3 tank left at end of flight, so I think I could fly 15-18 minutes with a small safety margine.

Cheers Matt,

Already got a smaller tank and that will do nicely. I can only manage about 10 mins max before brain fade occurs.

Hey folks,

I just bought one of these with a PTE-36r in it and have been looking for some kind of authoritative reference on alignment of the motor. The guy who built this has the motor angled to the left and up (looking from the front to the back of the fuse. I've had one guy tell me that is the exact opposite of what it should be. Yes? No? Maybe?

should be angled to the right by about 3 deg from the perspective of sitting in the plane as if you were the pilot.

A little right thrust seems to counteract torque or P-factor and is common. To me, downthrust depends on the way it flies ( what happens on throttle transition/level vs. inverted and other stuff).

Definitely right and down by 2 to 3 degrees or you can make it straight ahead and mix down elevator and right rudder with increase in throttle.
