Status: offline 		It would be more like a 120 size plane but would anyone know how this plane would perform with an Evolution 26GT2......(3d, hovering Etc)

Any help would be great

Status: offline 		With the MVVS/Evolution 26 you need to shoot for 9lbs to 9.5lbs... 10lbs will be marginal as a 3D''er.

This is a great flying plane. I love it. I have an SPE40cc mounted up front and the power / weight ratio is perfect. Hovering is a breeze and it will fly unlimited to the moon if you let it - well, maybe not the moon, but you get my drift. The instructions are good however any additional ARF experience would help. The plan calls for 2 x servos per aileron but I settled using just 1 x hitec 645MG per surface.
All the peices fitted together well and everything went where it should. The hardware pack was O/K. The only thing I wanted to do but could not find the room was to move the fuel take over the CofG but space is an issue.
I'm turning an APC 18 x 8 prop at 8500 rpm, I don't know what the 26 will pull but I do know another guy with an SPE26 in his and it still flys really well.

Status: offline 		I have the Extra, powered by a RCGF 45cc turning a 21X8 Menz prop at about 7600RPM. It's a rocket, and a very nice plane to fly. I'm stuck at 6800 feet ASL, therefore all that power.
Defiantly one of the best planes I have.

You can get a RCGF 45cc for less than what you can buy the Evolution 26 for. The RCGF's are realy nice, in fact there is a guy in CT flying one of my engines in a Seagull Edge 78 inch and he is very happy, maybe you know him. Karl Daschner?

Status: offline 		Oh, and another thing. All up weight of the Extra with a 45cc is 5.2 KG thats with a bit of care full building and some mods like removing the pilot.

As Driesbabe said, he has one and I know he likes it alot! I have the bigger brother of the Extra, the Edge 540 with a RCGF 45cc in. I am very very impressed. Driesbabe is the agent for these motors and gives very good service and after service (stocks all parts - only neccasary if you crash like I did this weekend). The prices are better than any hobby shop in SA. He also has a site going so you can get an idea of his products - he has alot more available. I almost think that he has stock left of the plane. Visit www.pilzers.net or send Driesbaba - Andreas a message. You can even contact me if you want to see the engine perform. Had comments at my field and at the Robertson airshow that it sounds like a DA, it start very easy and they are amased with the power. He couriers it stuff down no problem.

From what I've read the CRRC 26 is a fairly good gasser. It should fly the extra but to what authority, I don't know. My Extra weighs in at almost 6kgs and the SPE40 pulls it around nicely. I do have a mate that flys a Peak Model extra with almost the same dimensions with a 26CC gasser and it flys well with plenty of power.

Hi bjor,

My 90 Extra weighs in at shade less than 4Kg (9lb) with a Saito 125; 16x4W prop @ 10500rpm (ish)
Hovers under half throttle, pulls from hover well but not fast
Does a great harrier take off; flaps down-full throttle-2M roll- and almost a 60degree level climb
Very funny, didn't think it could do that at 4Kg

Weighing up the 160 Extra I should or hope to be no more than 5Kg (11lb)
So the 6cc more power to pull the 1Kg more weight
16x6 or 16x8 prop @ 9000rpm (ish)
Hopefully give me the same performance (except the harrier bit)

The CRRC 45i is over half kilo more, 20" plus props @ 7000rpm (ish)
Cost is only marginally more, about 20%
I weighed the two engines in there boxes in the shop and the 45i was over 1Kg more

Status: offline 		I see a few people planned to fly this extra 260 180 with a 26cc gasser. I was wondering if anyone had any luck with that combo. I think I want to try this plane plane with the MLD28. It is supposed to run quite a bit better than the spe26 but made buy the same manufacturer. It ways 36oz and makes 2.8hp. I would like it to hover and pull out nicely. It doesn't have to be a rocket. I really want to go gas.

Status: online 		Has anyone tried a YS 1.10S. I have one sitting here looking for a good home. It will spin a 16-6 @ 10,000. I am not looking for 3D performance, just excellent aerobatics. If it comes in around 10-11 lbs it would fly great.

Been running in the CRRC 26i. Done 4.5 hours so far.
Max rpm at the moment is 7950 and min idle 1800rpm on a JXF 18 x 6 woodie.
So should fly the plane well, just try and keep weight down.
Lovely piece of kit.

MOTOMAN37;

Your YS 1.10s will do well in the 90 version of the Seagull Extra 260
I have one with a Saito 125 and flys really well.
The 180 version is too big for your YS1.10
The 90 weighs just over 4kg(9lb); the 180 is going to be hard to get 5kg(11lb) or less.

Status: offline 		Is it possible to get this plane down to closer to 9lbs using a 28cc gasser weighing 37oz? I have also been looking at the Peak models 70" Extra 260. The combo with 2.8 hp 28cc gasser is only $499 with free shipping to the US. People in the build threads are claiming around 9lb ready to fly weights. I have had The Seagull kit in my hands and it looks really nicely built. People are also saying the Peak model kits are nice as well. I love and hate shopping at the same time. I do know I want to go gas. I'm flying 30% niro in my helis and want the cheaper fuel alternative. Plus I think it would be cool running my kart racing fuel through it and still be cheaper.
