I started playing one of favorite PS2 games "Heroes of the Pacific" in professional mode instead of arcade mode. I know it may seem silly, but I think this game might help me out as a sorta flight trainer. I currently have a 3 ch. Skyfly & know nothing whatsoever about 4 channel planes & was wondering if the PS2 controller is set-up anything at all like the 2 sticks on a 4 ch. radio/plane. In professional mode, the left stick up & down controls the elevator. The left stick, left & right controls the ailerons. The right stick, left & right controls the rudder. I just don''t know where this would leave the throttle control on a real 4 ch. radio? I don''t think it would be up & down on the right stick.

Rob,

here in the U.S. we use the following for the most part (some like the other mode ). 4 channel set-up= right stick is elevator(up down ) and ailerons (left right ) and the left stick is throttle (again up down ) and rudder (left right ) hope this helps you sort it out [;)]

P.S. if anything it might give you trouble as you will be used to the ps2 controls and will have to learn all over.

I see! that makes perfect sense now, because you can fly the planes with only elevator & aileron. When you have the rudder & throttle together, I see how that would work out, since you don''t quite use rudder as much as ailerons-I''m guessing.

The bigger the plane, the more need to use rudder and elevator to make "coordinated" turns. With parkflyers, the rudder is usually used for take-offs and landings, allowing the plane to be lined up with the runway while keeping the wings level, and for performing some advanced maneuvers. In fact, there are many parkflyers that have no rudder at all, like the ParkZone warbirds.
