Status: offline 		I''m only getting 3 flights out of my 600 Mah battery per day before the voltwatch (verified by a good meter) says it''s time to stop, which doesn''t quite cut it. Would I come out better to get another 600 Mah battery and run them together in parallel or just retire the one I have and get a 1200 Mah or more? I like the idea of redundancy in my system but am curious how different the flight times would be. I am also going to have a friend cycle my battery to make sure it''s good.

Status: offline 		If youcan get a higher capacity pack.600mah isnt much these days. And rather than double the weight you could get 1 that has a higher MAh and keep the same weight. And there notthat expensive.

But I do like the idea of a redundant setup so if I can get the same amount of time out of two 600 batteries as I can out of 1 1200, then I''m inclined to go that route even though it does addd a few more ounces of weight to my plane.

Well if your not worried about the weight then I see no reason it cant be done. But I dont think its good to run an older pack with a newer pack. I know thats true if your running in series. But im not sure if when running in parallel it matters if there both new or not. I would think it would be ok.

And you should get about th same amout of runtime with 2 600s as you would with a 1200. But that may be affected by your current battery. Once your buddy cycles it you''ll know for sure.

Status: offline 		Interesting thought about redundancy but without extra circuitry a short will still pull down the parallel pack. But still better than just one pack then again battery packs IMHO are the most reliable part of a plane if will maintained. The down side is now two packs to charge separate you can not charge Nixx in parallel & weight just doubled. So I always end up with a higher capacity pack. BTW I use Sanyo HRU 1650 thur 2700 MiMH myself. Go check them out

Status: offline 		One other advantage with the parallel packs is that the internal resistance/impedance is halved so the voltage seen by the servos under heavy load stays a little higher.........RJ

Status: offline 		My plane isn''t that demanding on the batteries to need more current draw capacity. If there isn''t much worry about the batteries going bad, then I''ll just get a higher capacity pack. Thanks for the help.

Take a look at this page. The 2/3A 1500 is a nice, light pack with good capacity. This place makes a very nice product. If you want to learn a lot about NiMH and NiCd cells read his FAQ''s. It will be time well spent.
