All right all of you Experts. I have played with my Walkera 4#3 for the better part of a week.
At first I had a very hard time holding it within a 2 foot from center point. It would wonder all
over the place, and occasionally it would tip over when i tried to land. I bought 2 Batteries so I could charge while flying.
One of the first things to happen. was I broke the FLYBAR. it is carbon rod. Order a couple of extras when you get the machine so you won''t break yours.
It''s a couple of Bucks with $25.00 shipping but free shipping when you order your Chopper. I ordered other things I thought would easily brake but haven''t had a problem. And the machine comes with a 2nd pair or rotor blades.
The flybar is .037 thousandths , so I made one out of steel.
Here is my question on this little fix pitch machine:
What effect will a Longer Flybar have on this?
What effect will a Shorter flybar have on the fix pitch machine?

I made a shorter flybar, and the machine seems MUCH easier to hold still. Is this the way it should be?

Lets here what you guys have done.

OH! Also order a couple of extra canopies, Because if it tips over and It will before it winds down, the blade will hit and crack the canopy.

39mm between (inside)the brass and it flys Great. I can almost hold it still.

ok fly bar i need one and they are sold out what is the best fix. it broke right at the paddle can i shorten it and still fly it.. by the way this is my first ever heli!!!!!! i have attempted a few flights or short hops. it drifts to the left and forward when i got it about 3 feet high i can control it better but iam not experienced enough to trim while i fly. i was trying to trim it when i had my crash it really wasent bad but the flybar is not very strong.

I have brokem mine a lot of times. You can re-use it a couple of times before it really becomes significant. Just be careful not destroying the small screws that hold the paddles and remember to center the flybar afterwards and you will be fine.

Btw. if you are new to the 4#3 it might actually be an advantage to shorten the flybar since it will make the heli react slower on the stick inputs. More experienced pilots will however find it annoying.

thanks for the info. i ordered a new one and lots of spare parts. the new one is the 4-3b. it is an amazing difference. it has a 2.4 radio and aluminum swash plate. the fly bar is steel. i used one of the steel flybars on the older version and it works fine. after flying the new version i will never fly the old one agian. the major problem i have found with both helis now is the tail boom. it breaks very easy. i have a couple of spares, i can only hope i will learn to fly better before i run out!!! i have some carbon fiber rod but havent checked to see if it is the same size.
btw i ordered the 4-3b from hobby-wing.com 104.99 plus 37.00 shipping direct from china to me in virginia usa in 3 days excellent customer service highly recommended for your heli needs all parts in stock!!

I have tons of time on mine now and it is still flying very well I haven't broken anything else.
I did notice that the aileron servo is twitching. I wonder if it has a dirty POT. anyone here have the new Metal rotorhead?
Maybe it is he B model.
