Status: offline 		I have a question about the heavvy duty hinges from Dubro. I''m about to use them on my 1/3 scale stearman by balsa usa, is the brass cotter pin strong enough or should I replace it with music wire???????? Please, any one let me know.

Status: offline 		You''ll tear the hinge material itself out before the cotter pin gives way. what you might consider, though, is to use a single piece of brass wire, or music wire, to go through all the hinges on one control surface, with a small bend at the end that can be imbedded in the edge of the tail surface and held with a small screw. Very unobtrusive, but if you ever need to unhinge a surface, remove the retaining screw, withdraw the long wire, and take off the tail surface. Hinge alignment is critical or it''s a female canine to get the wire in and out.
