Ouch SR!
Yesterday I went to go fly in the morning before work and the large park near my house was all blocked off with chain link fencing.
Not sure why it was but that blew my morning flight...I should have just flew at the house...in the evening the winds did not die down at all, so no flying on Wednesday.
This morning I decided to fly my Trex 450 at home...we have half acre lots in our neighborhood so lots of space to fly in the back...none of my neighbors have fences so I have lots of open space there to fly. I decided to practice my idle up hovering...I definately need to work on my settings...so much power and head speed...my pitch settings are identical after mid stick, but the head speed increases so much the heli just started climbing and climbing ROFL. This shook me up a lot...LOL I was decreasing collective and the heli kept climbing...on me...so I dropped it back to normal and got the heli down and flew out the pack...more practice is required!
Now I have tested the idle up to make sure my settings were ok but that was only for a few seconds...this morning was the longest I had left it on...all of my settings are as per the Finless videos set up...so it is just a matter of getting use to it I am sure. My Black Hawk does not have the power the Trex has...so I never experienced this before.

just make sure you have 0 pitch midstick in idle up. if you used - collective the heli should have shot down like a rocket.

maybe your normal pitch curve was the same for stunt/idle up

It is all set up correctly...it's not that it shot up...it started to climb, up...up...I am moving down on the throttle...it continues up and up...not too fast but I was starting to worry alittle at that point because I am at alomst 3/4 stick and it is not coming down...I don't want to panic and go negative on the collective and plant it...it is different from my black hawk....with the weight and slower head speed...at 3/4 throttle it is coming down nicely. Not so with the Trex...power baby...power! lol
I will jst reduce the idle up throttle curve to be 80% instead of 90% and that should help alot.

Did some more trimming on my CP, and wow can this thing be stable! It never used to be this stable. Can't wait to see what it can do once I start doing some more advanced maneuvers. By the way the area I am hovering in is about 8 foot by 10 foot.

while that might be a stable hover for a Blade CP... it looked more like my 450 in a steady wind... keep practicing until it stays steady.. and that means not moving all over teh place...

So far I have gotten 2 packs on my TRex tonight...I changed my idle up throttle settings lower...much better now. I went to 100-90-80-90-100. So I don't have the problem with the heli climbing in idle so quickly...lol
I pulled my first back flips with the Trex...man that was easy! So much more power compared the my Black Hawk, went over clean and easy...I also did some front flips and stationary rolls...they were a piece of cake with the Rex I do love this heli!!!!!!!!!
Practised my orientation hovering in ildle up to top off both packs...I need more

Today I flew 10 packs with the TRex...the parts I ordered for the Black Hawk were not right...so it is still down.
I flew 6 packs in the morning, absolutely beautiful! I am really getting better at my FF and keeping it in a nice straight line. Worked on my flips and rolls...lots of orientation basics.
This evening we had a decent breeze so I worked on more FF with orientation hovering in the wind...around 8-9mph...the Rex handled nicely in it.
Last 2 packs, the wind died off and I went back to working on more flips and rolls...my wife came out to watch the new heli fly...she had seen it hover but not what I can do with it.
I am practicing my inverted hovering on the sim and I am getting decent at nose in...not ready for the real heli yet but soon.

Flew my 500 two packs having a blast with stall turns and getting into circles both ways and sloppy 8's. Slow piro's and lots of fff.
Got to crazy with the 450. came out of top of a half loop going pretty fast and lost perspective inverted. Flew it into the ground in idle up backwards. Broke the tail boom in four places. LOL Bent the tail drive shaft, one boom support, fly bar, the of course the feathering shaft and main shaft. Cant believe the CY carbons blades did not break.

Got a couple of packs in yesterday morning. After that the wind picked up (as allways latley )! Then I flew my new 10-300 ultimate biplane in the evening (I know,I'm a traitor) My problem is,I like planes, and helis ! Yesterday I was watching (boats) on you tube. The sv27 (electric deep vee) really caught my eye ! Man,I've got it bad! I'm NOT gonna watch the cycle video's ! Ron

After the 450 smack down I waited a day to fly the 500 to get my nerve back up. Lesson learned, have your head on straight and do not get to laid back or over confidant in flying. One mental lapse and its crunch time. Started working with my new 3300 packs on the 500 yesterday afternoon. Just past the break in time I started increasing the flight time, then checking how many MA were going back in. At 7 minutes they are at 2200 MA, so I am hoping I can get 7.5 or 8 minutes of casual flight. I love the 500 because I can see it so much better, the noise it makes is cool, and it really is good in the wind. Flying in circles, stall turns, various hovers, backwards flight and sideways flight, and just plain having fun through 5 packs. I did not push it or test myself at all just having fun. Ordered the parts for the 450. Discovered I had broken the CF blades....darn. Looking at another heli, cant decide on a 600N or another 500 or???? LOL Guess I am addicted, and with old eyes size matters.
