It seems noise is the main issue and the diving and flying over houses is secondary as the noise is what brings the initial complaint?

hypothetical - If he was not diving over the houses yet still flying the noisy obnoxious wing at the crack of dawn on sat am would the neighbors still complain? Of course they would!

I might suggest he can tone down the noise substantially if he is simply willing to move the motor aft thus moving the prop away from the trailing edge of the wing - it makes a huge difference. I would even offer to buy him a larger battery pack to help any cg issue caused by moving the engine to an aft moment.

The problem is he likes the noise his plane makes - I have one and love it, like music to my ears - no different than Harley riders who love their obnoxious noise their bikes make while they wear earplugs under their skullcaps. or riceboys and thier 55gal drum mufflers.

I love to fly mine at electric fields where they think glow or diesel is to loud and must be banned.

Since Noise seems to be the primary issue and the (unsafe flight) seems a supporting complaint.

Where would you stand if he was peacefully flying an IC engine at your field?
Would you ask him to fly elsewhere so you could continue to fly your little mundane parkflyer?

Habit I guess... This is more of a moral issue than just a jet issue, sorry.

Getting pretty bad now. One neighbor is now actively organizing a group of neighbors to go confront the city park manager to find out why they have not banned flying in that park like in most other parks in the city. (My guess is that someone forgot to put up the sign at this park.) This was after this weekend him flying again from early morning until afternoon over his house.

I suggested a different prop to the a-hole to which he replied that he knew the law and the cops can't do anything about him flying there. It is selfish a-holes like that that screws it up for the rest of us and makes it so we have to drive a long distance away from the city to find a place to fly.

Got a phone call a couple days ago and could hear over the phone the loud whine from inside their house that has insulated windows. I'm getting real close to loaning my radio out.

Do you drive your car at 150MPH in a 25 zone? Or do you conform to what is legal and safe for where you are driving? I don't think anyone would mind you driving your hot car through their neighborhood, but I bet they would be ticked off if you were burning out in front of their homes at 8AM every Saturday morning and throughout the day. Just because you have a hot plane does not mean you have to a) fly it in a public park shared with non-RC people b) use a prop that is loud to get max performance c) fly it so close and over people's homes when there is plenty of space out in the park to keep a buffer zone distance from the homes. Nobody complains about the "mundane parkflyer." I've seen some pretty fast "mundane" airplanes out there that are not noisy. But on the wings with the prop so close to the body they get very loud. I have a couple wings and the one I fly around here has a longer prop with less pitch. It does not get as much speed as it could but is pretty quiet and doesn't bother anyone. I've only had people make positive comments and ask the usual questions like how much, how high, and where can I get one? Sometimes being mundane is a good thing. BTW, if he were flying a 4-stroke IC engine I bet people would not be upset at him. It is that darn high pitch weed eater sound over the homes that drives the retired folks crazy.

I agree with this quote the most, He should not be flying over backyards at all, when you've seen as many planes as I have go down for whatever and any reason, you know all too well the danger involved.

Get a large friend to grab a couple of beers and then go over to him.

A) while watching him fly his plane,, he starts asking a couple of questions while constantly telling him how cool his plane is.
B) offer a beer to him after he lands then while looking at his plane on the ground or his table asking more questions about it like he's intested in flying.
C) in a pretend half drunken state of mind he trips and falls on his plane crushing it into pieces.
D) give him a wrong name and address and tell him he will pay for a new plane for him. and then don't. [)]

This works great with a Huge friend who never really goes to the field. grant it its a short term solution, or just get all the kids in the neighbor hood to shoot paintballs at him everytime he's there.

Status: offline 		Note that this is just a regular city park and has nothing to do with AMA. It is not a "flying field." It is just a large park that has room to fly in. The beer plot does sound good! However, those wings are pretty tough so you'd need to get a real big guy to fall on it and then maybe pick it up and trip again to fold it in half.

Status: offline 		If he is flying over homes though, there can't be something done by the Police or something?? as he is definetly endangering the area, I know its a touchy subject when it comes to involing officials on these matters as then like stated they could just close off the whole park to RC.

Most of the people I have ever met in thios Hobby are great, very respectful of others and willing to help anyone learn, build, etc... its too bad people like that idiot can ruin it for many.

I hope it all works out

IF you are already flying your plane on the same chanel he is on how can he fly his plane ??
oh by the way do not forget to turn your radio off when charging he cannot fly his plane then ( people may sleep in )he may have to wait to fly or go somewhere else
looks like you tried everything else

Status: offline 		GREAT IDEA! I'll loan my radio and tell my friend to leave it on whenever he notices the jerk out there. Or, when he hears the noise he can turn it on after the first flight so that it will be the only flight he gets in for the day. Hopefully he will not find it worth while to go there for only 1 flight. Watch him buy some crystals to change frequency. Unless he upgrades his radio he will be screwed as any channel he tries to fly on will "be in use". Then again, I don't think I have ever seen him range check his radio. Very good chance he will just take off and then... oh well. This sounds like a good solution. If he does a range check, he will not fly and go away. If he just launches it and crashes, it is really his fault for not checking that the frequency was clear. Brilliant!
