tIANci, sometimes I wish the laws here were more direct as they are there. Things would be very different. There would certainly be less THUMBING through law books if you know what I mean haha!

Some props get that annoying high pitch that goes through everything. When I fly around places that have homes nearby I'll put on a prop that makes less noise of just fly mellow as not to get loud. Better to only fly mellow than not fly at all. Save the noisy stuff for actual flying fields where it is not going to create a problem.

animal - I think the laws in the US are more strict as people there do give a darn about their personal peace and harmony, here its not the same but we have cops who are willing to 'muscle' people to get the correct things done, maybe its got its own benefits in that manner.

The solution for a quiter pusher is to fly slower, nothing much you can do with a pusher. As long as you are not screaming about at 50,000 RPM at 7 am on a Sunday I doubt most will complain. Talking about straffing, I went with some guys on a rc outing and I was straffing one of the guys with my Fun Jet as he went out to pick up his plane, he tried to shoot me down with his shoe ... the man looked like he was doing ballet! He is one of my best friends and he hates EP ... hehehehee ...

I lived in Singapore a couple years as a kid. That photo reminded me of Singapore. Loved the fruits and food there! That is also where I got my first RC airplane. It was about 30 years ago. It was a 3 channel Cessna with a .20 motor. I flew that thing forever. I still had it when I came to the USA in high school. I put it into a high speed dive like I had on many occasions but the wings folded and nothing survived. I must have flown that thing for 5 or 6 years.

tIANci: Point well taken.

I have a serious question about interference, I have a DX6 and fly behind my house, no neighbor problems the whole place stops for the show, but the other day I flew and had some trouble with my servo on the elevator. When I gave full power it would sometimes want to "flex", what I mean by that is, instead of a quick jerky action which is typical of a glitch, this was a slow smooth action, like a glitch in slow motion. the whole flexing movement would happen in less than a second but thats no good! So considering the background of those on this thread and the content which has been discussed it seems appropriate to pose this question to you all. By the way Im sure you know it's a 2.4ghz radio. Today I flew and did not experience these problems.

To range check the book says to get the plane set up and take 30 paces about 90 feet and see if every thing works. I can tell you that I have not had any more problems, I think it was excess moisture in the systwem that was messing with things, you see when I went flying last time, a big storm came up and things got a bit, moist shall we say.

I was not there to admire his stupidity and the glorious crashes. I was told that one crash was right near my friend's backyard fence and as he described it, "very loud." I think that was the one that ended the wing. If he had done a range check he would have known he should not have been flying. Bummer!

I have not heard any more whining lately about noisy RC airplanes, rude pilots, and neighbors calling the city, etc. Hoping it stays that way for a while. The little I fly now I usually fly my helicopter, so I have a lot more option on where I can fly. But I'd like to see the few places that one can still fly an airplane stay open for a while...

have been watching this thread with interest as we all run into people like this in anything we do. I have a nice park area adjacent to a golf course that is used for chipping and serves as a nice place where a bunch of flyers show up and an ad-hoc club forms. One of their buddies who, since he has been flying 30 years "knows everything", drags out the 4 foot wing that kills all creatures with the screaming sound starts cutting through the air like a barracuda. worse off he is going so fast he starts going over the golf course.

To date we fly near one of their equipment sheds and I have even brought along a Y4F futaba with a buddy box in case one of the golf workers would ever ask us to leave, I would use honey to solve the problem and ask if he would like to try it and how if your fly responsibly, you dont get complaints.

To solve the wing problem, I have a beat up Mini Ultra Stick that I am going to put up in the air and play amateur pilot and cause him to reconsider whether he wants to fly here with all these none know-it-all rookies.

As for your situation, you are right, that guy is an a** and certainly like all pests he will rebuild and most likely move to 2.4 to overcome the interference. it might be great to have all the neighbors purchase a kite and when the guy shows up have a kite festival. The neighbors have more rights to fly the kites than he has to fly his wing

Now it is personal and I think it is time to take his airplane(s) out evey chance there is. Been a couple months since I've flown at that park. I went there this morning with my F18 pusher jet (nearly silent) and my helicopter (electric and also quiet). Flew my F18 (Vicman Special) for about 10 minutes. As I landed it I saw a police car pull along the side of the park. As I was preparing my heli for a flight he drove up through the park to talk to me. He said somebody called to complain that an airplane was flying over their house. I never got anywhere close to the homes, and even if I were to buzz a house 6 inches off their roof line, they could not hear it. I asked my friend if by any chance A-hole had been flying that morning. He said yes and that it was loud as heck. So the guy managed to piss the people off enough this morning so that when I was flying nice and quiet far away from the homes someone called to say I was flying over their house. They probably thought I was the idiot that was there earlier and called the police for that reason.

The cop was cool. He said he thought there was a municipal code that prohibited flying in the city parks but given that I was not flying over the homes or making any noise I was free to continue flying. I explained the problem with the A-hole and he said "I'd get a slingshot and shoot that guy's airplane out of the air." Then he realized that isn't something a cop should say and he said, "I probably really should not have said that." I joked back and told him that the guy has had a couple airplanes go down due to what I'd call "neighbor induced frequency interference." He laughed and asked what the A-hole looked like.

I think he might be on the lookout for him now. But I think it is time for more aggressive action against the guy. Now rather than neighbors being intrigued about RC hobby and asking the usual questions (Where can I buy one? How high does it go? What do they cost? Etc...) they are pissed and call the police at the first sign of someone flying even if it is safe and courteous flying.

I'm thinking more in the line of distributing a case of wrist rocket sling shots to the neighbors in the area!
