triphop631 -> Engine shutting off when I brake. (4/16/2008 1:15:12 PM)

Hello all,

I am having a problem where when I brake the throttle arm also moves with the brake arm a little and my engine is shutting off. I know that the carb is getting completely closed and no air is going in the engine so that is why it is happening. My question is, is there a way to stop this from happening. I have loosened the servo screw to almost coming off the servo and it is still happening. I also tried a little grease between the two and same outcome. if there is anything else that you suggest that would be great. I have a Spektrum DX3.0 with a Z590 servo.

thank you,

Mike

I had that problem yesterday. The problem is not the servo but the idle screw.... Mine was way too rich. Usually the factory settings are dead on but mine got loose for some reason or another.

your idle is set too low! just turn it in until there is a 1-1.5 mm gap in the carb whilst pressing the breaks![;)]

I am not sure if you guys are understandind what I am saying. when I press on the brakes the servo arm for the throttle moves with the brake arm. It doesn't move all the way but it moves enough for the carb to shut and the engine cuts off. I tried the idle screw and that works but it idles to high then when I am not on the brakes.

I had a similar problem with RS4 Evo+. Except when I started my car it would be at full throttle. I had to take my servo saver off and adjust from there. Take the air cleaner off. Put the brakes on and see how much if carb fully shuts or if there is a gap. If it fully shuts then move your servo saver a couple teeth on the servo. Before you do this make sure your radio adjustments are all set to neutral(actually, you may want to check that prior to, maybe thats the problem, to much rearward travel in the servo). You may need to adjust your brake afterwords. I had to do this with my steering servo as well because it was not properly centered out of the box.

Adjust the Throttle trim on your radio. If that doesn't work...unscrew the the screw on the servo. lift up the plastic piece thats connected to the throttle arm and turn it clockwise just a little and then just tighten it up.
