tucker1865 -> Ouick field charger..no clue (4/16/2008 9:25:30 PM)

I have a Hobbico Ouick Field Charger and do not know how to use it. I guess I am a little past my prime so I thought I would just ask. Let''s say that I have been flying and my batteries are low, or I forgot to charge them the night before. At what level (amps) would I use to charge the batteries in say 1/2 hour. I am talking, a standard reciever battery at 4.8V and 600mAh and a transmitter battery at 9.6v and 600mAh. The charger is rated in increments of .02 amps up through 2.0. I read the insttructions but is is still fuzzy to me. I asked a guy at our field, who was flying electric and he was not sure, but said I probably should not exceed 1.0 amps. Thanks for your help.

The charger will deliver the capacity in 1 hr (set at 600 ma would deliver 600 mah in an hr.)
For 1/2 hr charge it needs to be doubled (1.2 amps or 1200 ma)

I think your guy is right, if they are heary nicads in AA size then they can take 1 amp, but slower is better. Many small radio batts shouldn't be charged at the 1 hr rate even , and should be set to 200 - 300 ma.
