what is the minumum age for youth membership in AMA? I have a 6 year old that has been flying my park flyers I want to start him on some of my bigger planes at the club I belong to but the online application only goes to 1990 for the birth year

There is no minimum age. You can sign him up for only $1!

My son has had a card since he was 8 mo old. While the card only cost a dollar I make a contribution to AMA in his name to equal the dues.

Not presuming to answer for Vicman, but just for myself:

Because it is too good a deal to pass up. IMHO it is the best benefit offered by AMA, not only for the youth member that is signed up, but for AMA too. It's a win-win situation for all concerned.

For $1, if you child is learning to fly why would you not sign them up? For $15 they get membership and the magazine.
