Status: offline 		Just dug my old skyrocket out the loft and in the process of converting it to electric,
It used to have two OS25FSR in it swinging 10X4 props back in 1979, The wing span is 68” weight proximally 10lbs

Status: offline 		Just take it to a blue print shop and have them print it at 100%. I already have a Ziroli copy so this one I am taking it up to 145% to get 90" wing span.

Status: offline 		Bob Holman still sells the plans and laser cut kit for the 68 inch version. I just bought them a month ago. I think that is the original, in this thread, that is being converted to electric.
The cowl and canopy are mo longer available from bob.

Status: offline 		Thanks for the tip. The plans for the XF5F-1 Skyrocket at bhplans.com are not listed on his web site. I called and his price is $35 for the plans, $10 for shipping and the laser cut kit is about $75. He said he used to make the cowls out of fiberglass, but has none available. If my memory is correct, .25 to .35 engines are used. He will take Pay Pal or CC over the phone.

Status: offline 		Making progress on my conversion to electric Skyrocket Mk1 should be ready to fly in a couple of weeks, The fuel plays havoc with the balsawood that’s why I mothballed them 30 years ago, Thank god for the advances in electric if this one don’ts fall apart in mid air I will convert the long nose rocket will keep you posted

Status: offline 		2 KV-1100 Brushless Outrunner motors they are ok but will change as soon as I have done a test flight get clicking on low throttle not sure if it’s the bearing we will see!

+60A Speed Controller ESC, The speed controllers are not suitable for this motor will only run on 10x6 or 11x5 APC Max. so I decided purchased 2 scorpion 70amp water cooled speed controllers at a special price from micron models UK same spec as aircraft type but are heaver need the weight up front so the that didn’t matter running on 12x6 APC. Pull around 800watts at full throttle,
Batteries are Turnigy 3300mAh 4S 30C Lipo Pack

Status: offline 		Thanks for the info. I never heard of Watercooled ESCs before - live and learn. How do they work? Are they submerged in water or do they have a water jacket with a pump of sort circulating the water?

Hi I have manage to produce a mold (mould) for the cowls and have knocked out two cowls, I am waiting for the canopys to be made will update you all when I get the canopy.

I have the model almost done and have been trying to find a gear that would work without any sucess.
I also would be interested in cowls and canopy as That would save a lot of work to finish mine up

Status: offline 		Re rocket doors,speed controllers motors, retract servo setup.

I have used HS55 servos as they are only small doors you will need to reverse two of the servos
Bit of a fiddle but can be done, See picture) There are too other ways of doing it one is by a matchbox or you can
Get your self a gear door sequencer and just use one switch, none theses were available in the late seventies it was all mechanical. (How thing have change for the better)
Just purchased 4 gening AS90mg servo’s just in case I strip a gear on the HS55 servo.
At the moment I have just dug out a matchbox and set up the 4 AS90mg servos on it I will use them on the MK2 rocket long nose version,
As for the retract servos I used HS75BB servos as they are the switching type, NOT proportional on then off, no power drain if anything jams.
The HS77BB are proportional and in hindsight maybe I should have used theses
As you can control the speed in which they travel, I think you have to use proportional with a gear door sequencer not sure.

Hi, Trinut
Note I never used the spring on the leg I just used straight 8swg wire but if you do decide to you use them do not push the leg in more that ¾” in as the spring will hit the main mounting, when you are happy with the set up just put a drop of 601 locktite locking compound on the leg and slid them in
Give it an hour for it to set now you’re ready for a test. To remove the legs just heat up the leg mount with a small blow lamp and they’ll just slide out.
