mhm21 -> Aircraft Dynamic Model (4/18/2008 10:05:18 PM)

This is for all you engineers out there! I am currently a graduate student studying mechanical engineering and working on a project for a control systems class involving a UAV. We are in need of a good dynamic aircraft model that we could use as a basis to test various controllers. Basically, we are looking for a state space model/transfer function for a 6-DOF aircraft. Is there anything out there? Or are these sorts of things developed on an as needed basis? Currently we do not have anything resembling an aircraft dynamics class so this is all relatively uncharted territory for us. I know this question is kind of weird, but I would greatly appreciate any help any of you might be able to lend us here!!! Thanks!

I usually design aircraft that are to any specifications I would need, I just draw them and testing is very rare, lol, anyway if I could send you the designs you ask for you could make it out of the usual materials such as balsa for lightweight airframes, fiberglass fuselages for rigidity and robust(ness), etc. I'd like to help in any way I can, UAV's and drones are my favourite! The only downside is I'm not perfect at this stuff, I may be 13 but I'm smarter than most. My designs are very aerodynamic and practical.

If you want you could also look at Andrew Lennon's articles, they are very useful.
