I have a new Super Eagle 120. My problem at least I think it, is that from half throttle to full a flame will apear than go away THAN the tail cone will go RED and I mean GLOWING RED!! Some times there are little sparkes coming out also. Is this normal? I have a P70 and a P80 and they don't do that. Here are the readings from my last run.
LOW= 31800
MID= 74000
HIGH= 127000
TEMP= 504'c
PW= 104

Any HELP will help in this! Thanks For ALL the repleys in advance!
Thanks Gerry

Could be anything, solids in the fuel, little pieces left over from the manufacturing process, dust igniting in the air behind the engine. No worries.

Sometimes I've been able to look up there and see the burner tubes individually.

Enjoy, your temps are fine, you are gonna love that engine, I own two of the eagles.

Hello:

Yes, everything (statement) that Sean made is (are) correct. You will always see the glow in the nozzle any time after the sun goes down. Common observation.

Sparks and Flame: again, at night you will see this occasionally. I am not concerned based upon the readings you posted. What I do want to know is if the acceleration is smooth. If so, you need not to respond. If not, I ask for more information relative to what you observe.

Your peace of mind is knowing the combustion chamber is made of inconel. It does not break down and deliver sparks to the exhaust nozzle. What will cause some sparks, is debris (FOD) from inside the jet (assumes internal installation) as it sucks it up and ingests it. It is amazing what sawdust, matal filings etc. get drawn into the turbine.

Feel free to call me Monday thru Saturday with any questions you have.

Cheers,
Eric Clapp
