I am interested in your 2.7M Extra 330 Midwing for the 2009 IMAC Season. I am currently in Germany in the USAF and I need to start getting my bird ready for the 2009 IMAC season. I have decided to go with the 2.7M Extra (great looking) and just have a few questions about the aircraft.

How many servos per wing?

Does the firewall have built in thrust or can I get an SWB mount with the thrust built in the mount for the DA-100?

What size spinner best fits the aircraft?

What are the dimensions of the wing and tail tubes? I would like to fill the plane with carbon.

Anymore information than what you have on the website would be greatly appreciated. I am really looking forward to purchasing from you all at JTEC. I have heard absolutely nothing but good words about your company.

First thank you for your kind words about our products. As for your questions about the 2.7m Extra I will try to give you as much info as possible.

The wings are setup for two servos per side, however one Futaba 9156, Hitec 5955, or JR 8611 would be fine.
The plane is also setup with a rudder tray for two servos or if you would prefer there are cut outs for rudder servos in the rear.
The firewall is installed and I believe has 3 degrees of right thrust built in.
The plane also is ready for canister mufflers or you can even put full length tuned pipes in it without to much difficulty.
The tubes are 1.5" x 36" wing tube, and 5/8" x 17.25" tail tube (I believe the tail tube is 17.25", I would have to double check though).
For the spinner you can go with either a 4.5" or 5" both will work and both will look fine.
We now also offer carbon landing gear from graph tech for the airplane which will save you about 8oz from stock.
The plane now has a lightened rudder, elevators, and we have gone through the whole plane and lightened it without sacrificing any stucture.

I say buy it... As you know, I have both the 3.2m 300 and the 3.2m 330 as well as the 2.5m Extra 300. I finally unboxed both of the 3.2m's last night and have them now on my bench. I don't have all of the hardware for them yet, but getting closer. Feel free to stop by and I'll be will glad to show you what they look like up close.

If I'm not mistaken, the 2.7m Extra 300 is a scaled down version of the 3.2m version. Therefore, you should be able to get a good idea of what the 2.7m would look like.

Basically you are correct on the 2.7. The color scheme was originally on the 2.7, we decided to do the 3.2 in the same scheme because we liked it.

I just got off the phone with a customer that has a 2.7 with his all up weight was 25.5 pounds ( on 2000 sq in) with a power box and all standard hardware on a DA 100.

With a DA 85 it should be right at 23 pounds.

Additional weight can be saved by carbon gear and wing tube about 8 ounces each for an additional 1 lb weight savings

Status: offline 		Does the extra come with any hardware? Canopy installed, hinges installed and or supplied? Are the locations for the control horns marked and or predrilled?

Status: offline 		The 2.7m extra comes with basic hardware. It includes all the hinges, wing knobs, and bolts to mount the hatch & tail. We do not mount the canopy for shipping purposes because we do not want them to get damaged. As for prehinging the airplanes as like other companies do we feel that it is not a good thing to do. The reason we feel this way is; one most airplanes that we have seen or have had customers tell us about that offer prehinging do not get as much throw as most customers would like. Secondly we take on much more liability, which as I am sure you can understand. Yes it may not be as convienent but in the long run we feel it is the better way to go. We figure its better to do it right the first time then have to go back and do it a second time.

The reason we do a very basic hardware kit is we have found in the past that everyone has there own opinion on what is the best hardware for control horns and such. If you would like we can provide you with the complete list of hardware that we use on our personal airplanes, actually if you download the instruction manual off of our website you will see that most of the hardware is listed.

As for the weight one of our customers just completed one with a DA100 and standard mufflers that weighs 25lbs. We have a DA85 with a MTW 110 in our personal plane and I believe it is right at 23.5lbs and is a perfect combination for the airplane.

Status: offline 		they are mounted in the fuse and we recommend using the rocket city hardware for them so you can quickly pop them off when you need to take the stabs off. Also you can mount the rudder servos in the back or in the built in tray.
