Are there any readers out there that have built this Stearman? This is my first project from building from plans only. Top wing, stabilizer and elevators have gone together pretty well (I'll try to attach a couple pictures). Bottom wing looks a little more complicated. Just looking for some advise on the correct order to put things together.

I have these plans too. But it will be awhile before I build it. Looks like you're on the right track to me. I normally start with tail control surfaces then wings. The fuse last. After the major component assembly, mount the engine. All of those are pretty much fixed. Then I start pre balance checks to see where I'm gonna mount the inside equipment. Move things around to get it close. Helps cut down on led.

I built mine from a Chuck Gill kit and don't remember any issues with the order I built it. I usually start with the easy stuff like the movable surfaces, then the rest of the tail, then the wing and last the fuse. I talked to Nick about it since I was planning on putting a Saito 450 3-cyl in it and he advised ailerons on both wings, which I did. Good flying plane and it needed the weight in the front end from the big Saito. If I were to build it again, I would reinforce the area where the gear mounts in the fuse somehow.

I bought the plans, gear, cuffs etc. for the 87" version from Ziroli Plans, but haven't started it yet. I will cut the parts myself on this one and transfer the Saito to it.

Built this one a few years back. One of my favorite planes. They come out abit heavy, but fly great. Go with the oleo struts and lighten it up where ever you can (via lightening holes in ribs etc.). Unfortunately, It met it's demise due to a careless 3D pilot.

Here are the latest photos. Top wing has the top sheeting finished.
Its been a slow process - especially when there wasn't any spruce included in the kit. I've contacted the new company that bought Aeroplane Works & they keep promising getting the missing parts mailed out. I finally gave up & ordered from Balsa USA - I had it in 4 days!!.
Bottom portion should go together pretty quick. I'm really suprised how light this wing is turning out.

I'm getting ready to start the fuselage. This is the first time I have built a fuselage over a crutch. I'm having difficult time seeing how this thing goes together.
Could anyone give me some pointers on how to set it up properly??
I'm sure its easier than I'm making it.
