He's only had it since Christmas and flown it about 5 times. We went to the field today but he didn't want to fly right away so I asked if I could fly his MUS - my first try at it.

Granted, the Eflite Mini UltraStick with a Park 480 brushless motor is a somewhat of a hotrod. Of course, he set the rates on his Spektrum DX7 to high then handed me the box. It was a bit breezy today but not too bad. I took off, did a couple of go arounds then over rolled it trying a steep banked turn, wound up inverted and low then it was in the ground before I could react. To be honest, that was my first ever RC crash.

Definitely repairable as the fuselage had some minor damage, a dent in the LE of the wing but I broke the shaft off the motor. I also crunched in the front corner of the TP 3S 2100 PL LiPo. When we got home I discharged the pack then put a full charge on it outside on the driveway. No obvious heat or swelling. One of the members at the field said he'd fly that LiPo pack again but I think we may retire it to backup service.

I have Monday off so will spend it repairing his airplane. I can get a replacement 4mm shaft from the LHS I bought the plane, motor and radio. One change we did make was to replace the steel LG bolts with nylon bolts and they did their job. I suppose I should have also changed the wing bolts to nylon as well.

Boy don't ya just hate that, but unfortunately its part of our hobby. At least you can repair it for your son and are not down at the LHS purchasing a new one I got caught in the dual rate trap not too long ago, ended up over rolling the airplane on takeoff with not enough air to fly it out.

No one will let me fly there planes even if I was to ask them. What's up with that? They have all seen me fly before and know I can fix them pretty good I just don't understand most of the guys fly on anothers plane from time to time but they seem to not want me to .
