Yup that about sums it up for this build then. I took some pics of this and that which all took place during final assembly. I don't think there's anything funny that needs to be discussed, not that I'm lazy...it's just really straight forward.

I got everything trimmed and setup ready to rock and roll! CG came out right on Mike's recommended optimum CG in the manual, initially thought I was nose heavy but further investigation quickly proved I measured way off. I was scratching skull for a while there. Hehe. But yes it's now at 5 1/8" from the LE, manual recommends a furthest aft point of 5 1/2". I'll as usual fly from here and adjust if really needed, I don't like a too tail heavy aeroplane ever.

My only concern so far is the final weight. She weighs in at 2010gram dry at the moment. This is around 4,4lbs. A little heavier than I had hoped considering my height above sea level but we'll have to see what she says out at the field. I don't think she's going to be overpowered by any means that's for certain. Let's hope it's not too bad.

Heya everyone!

Maiden was a success! Only real hitch was that me and the gf forgot to grab the camera in our rush to get out to the field.

The plane flew well however and everything was smooth sailing. So far I like it! It would seem I am a little on the nose heavy side however and will have to give some attention to that problem, I can move the motor back a fart still but it's not much. I'll look into it sometime during the week, pretty sure I only need to move the CG back a few millimeters for it to suite my style. It's dropping the nose a little too heavily at the moment when I flip it over.

Otherwise just like the old Yak it does the book but a little better. Harriers upright and inverted are very easy. Hovers are stoopid easy. Flatspins upright and inverted already show signs of holding height, knife edge spins are wacky fast. Pinwheels, waterfalls and flippidy flops is all in the flight envelope! Hehehe. Knife edge on this one is awesome! Knife edge coupling is so near to none existent it's scary, mine wants to roll out ever so slightly to the direction of the rudder input. Even on the maiden we were comfortably getting on the deck for a few slow knife edge passes. The old Yak got a little wacky on the knife edge at times, this one reminds me a little of the big fusion rather.

I'm gonna enjoy this plane! That's for sure!

Oh have to add! The weight? I'm lead to believe the little salad scale I used to measure the old Yak could have well been nuts. The power on this one is no problem whatsoever, hovers a stripe on the stick under half throttle and rockets up great! This thing still punches holes in the sky in any direction, just point..adjust throttle and smile.

Bump!

Hey everyone! I finally 'think' I managed to get someting figured out with the video. I had some major issues with the compression and gave up for a little while, last night I got some good results again. Going to try and upload it within the next few days.

Tadaaaaaaaaa!

Managed to get the FTP going last night, with great effort I might add. 19MB more or less, I'll advise to right click and save as.

Still not the greatest quality for the size but I reckon it'll do just dandy. Oh and it's nothing special, usual CJ stuff coming from me. LOL

Those exact ones indeed. I wouldn't do anything less for a plane of this caliber.

Way to go Spacey. I like the spin combination about 1/4 the way through the video. I could hear the wind in the camera......was it really windy for you there? Also nice job on the inverted harriers. me thinks you've been practicing!

Dankie! Yaa stupid wind, always blowing when you want to compete in a competition or make a video huh? I lucked out timing the one torque roll alright so we could hit a wind "break" to get it half decent. But the slight rocking in the harriers and dodgy little recovery from the knife edge turn around in the beginning of the video was all Mr Wind's fault. Inverted harriers with this bird? Walk in the park me reckons yeh! Hehehe.

On the topic of practise, the eggbeaters have been keeping my too occupied for my tastes. But the little Yak is so convenient to squeeze inbetween everything else in the car so I'm sure I'll get the thumbs loose again on my fix wing flying. This past weekend we had an F3C heli comp so I got some fun flying time lying ahead again. Good chance to get working on my 3D skills again.
