Get thick walled tubing from ACE Hardware. Find some 3/16 aluminum plate. I cut mine with a scroll saw.

Do it your self. It will be worth it.

Status: offline 		Thanks i think i will venture and try building it myself. how does your model crawl in comparison to a kit car? Im sure its no AX10 but i find DIY jobs are much more rewarding.

Status: offline 		May I suggest checking allelectronis for gear head/ geared motors?

They have all sorts of gearhead motors , stock changing regularly. If you run a gearhead to a transfer case, say some 1/4" flat stock aluminum, housing four bearings, two shafts and drilled out pinions, ... you got a transfer case needing some drive cups or drive shafts.

I've found brazing tubing is the easiest chassis if you have a torch, chopping aluminum stocks fun if you have a cut wheel....?

I have not seen the other Crawlers my self. I am still in the building stage.
Just built this one from information I obtained from this sight and others like it.
I can tell you that after watching the online video, mine will be able to hold its own.
I will be taking it apart and rebuilding it cleaner. Better servos, clean and paint the frame.
When I get the links adjusted the way I want them I will use them as patterns to cut solid ones.
Watch the videos and look at the other rigs on this sight, they will give you plenty of ideas.
There is no reason you can't build a crawler that is just as good or better than the store bought ones.
Be sides you don't thing these guys leave them stock do they. You just make yours better from scratch.
Besides it's fun.
