Hi,

I am new to this forum and would like to say that these forums are fantastic. good work

I am building a Great Planes Super Skybolt. I was going to fit an OS 1.20 on it but I am now considering the RCV 1.20. due to its design and great quality build.

I would like to know if the Skybolt will be fully aerobatic with an RCV 1.20? I am saying this cause i was reading these forums and it seemed that the RCV was being used to turn large props (due to the 2:1 ratio) at low revs for slow flying WW2 warbirds.

Thanks

thanks for the link but I have already been to RCV homepage. I know that the surpass is more powerfull than the RCV 1.20 and so I want to know if using an RCV 1.20 will be enough to do the usuall crazy aerobatics i do at the field. I just want that lovely 4 stroke noise on that skybolt !!

I have no experience whatsoever with a RCV so I would really appreciate if someone will tell me if an RCV is suitable for aerobatics. I do not intend to use the skybolt just for scale flying ( even though the skybolt GP is not that 100% scale). If I feel that I want to just knife edge for 15 minutes I want the engine to do what i have in mind.

Thanks

The RCV SP series engine is not suited for aerobatic flying. For this an airplane requires High RPM with a low pitch prop. That is the exact opposite of the SP series engine. RCV however is planing a much larger engine for the future in the CD series which would be enough and than some. This engine will be the third engine in the CD series, and will follow the .96CD coming out this Fall. The SP series is intended for scale and war birds.
