what engine for the katana v2 46

os 46 ax, MVVS .49 with tuned muffler or OS .55 ax ?

I have both the former engines.

I used an OS 46ax with an APC 12.25*3.25 prop. Heaps of power, it doesn't need any more. Despite mounting the motor quite far back I still need tail weight, so if your MVVS is lighter it might be a better alternative. Check the balance before finalising the decision.

Go with the 55 and 13x4 APC.....it's lighter than both of those other engines. Tons more power, and NO TAIL WEIGHT NEEDED!!![:D]

Thanks for the quick replies. Will try the ax .46 and resist from buying the ax.55 for the moment!

I had a 55 AX in my Kat 46 V2 for awhile, but felt it was too nose heavy. Replaced the 55 AX with a much lighter Webra 50 and the plane flew much better.

The 46 AX is exactly one ounce lighter than the 55 AX, and the 46 AX muffler is exactly 1/4 ounce lighter than the 55 AX muffler. So you'll save 1 1/4 ounces of nose weight by going with the 46 AX.

Don't have any actual weights on the MVVS 49, but for reference the 46 AX weighs exactly 17.25 ounces with the stock muffler, the 55 AX weighs 18.5 ounces with the stock muffler, and the Webra 50 weighs 16.25 ounces with the stock muffler.

TMPro Katana 46 V2 and a YS 63 s 13x4 APC Prop What a combination [:D]

Hobby-Motory -> RE: katana V2 46 (8/21/2008 12:45:27 PM)

The TMPro Katana V2 was designed for the famous simple 46 size O.S. T.T. engines.
using a low pitch prop such as APC 12X4 or even 12.22X3.75 is a perfect set up
and will fly and perform great.

Keep it a low budget airplane as it should and you wll have heaps of fun...

Good Luck

Put a M.C. muffler on that 46 and it will run great.

Ehhhh, HELLO! no it isn`t

You might want to calibrate your scale if you actually think the 55 is lighter than the 46[sm=lol.gif]
I flew mine with he ASP XLS 52 and the Tower muffler, killer power and lighter than a 46 with stock muffler, still used some lead in the tail for extreme 3-D
