Bill,

Even though you are not directly involved with my entry of Pro Am competition this year I want to thank you for your hard work which is thankless.
Without you and the rest of the judges we would never have the best competition around. Thanks to all the Static and flight line judges as I know what it takes to stand out there all day long with a water and a Red Bull to give you wings! Many thanks.

Dino,

Being a Top Gun Judge is truly a humbling experience. Put yourself in this situation.....Mike Selby brings his best, and puts it at your feet for your approval. If this does not make you feel humble, then you have no business being a Judge at this, or any top level event. Thanks for the above statement, but we judges feel honored to look at what you guys have done. I'll look forward to seeing all of you next year.

Bill,

I would like to echo Dino's comments. Those of us who compete (I didn't make it this year) REALLY appreciate those of you who give of their time to allow events like Top Gun to work. I have flown at the Nats, Scale Masters and many smaller regional and local meets....and never have I had the quality of judging that I have at Top Gun. If you miss something or get it wrong on the model, it WILL be found!! And the flight judging....I know how difficult that is.

Many thanks to you guys.

Jeff

I'll definately have to third that emotion! I not only compete but have also judged at several events and know just how difficult it can be to stand and discriminate under all conditions. My hat is always off to the judging crews for without them there would be no competition.
Thanks to all! You are appreciated!

Thanks for the pics, guys. That A-4 is beautiful. Easy to mistake for the real deal. Looks like they understand how to fly it right, too. Brings back a lot of great memories from when the Blues flew the Scooter.

Looks nice.. except for the fact that the Blue Angels bolted the slats shut on their A-4's, and the paint used is nowhere close to the correct colors. Blue Angel Blue (FS15050) is non-metallic, and the color they used doesn't have enough purple in it. Blue Angel Yellow (FS13655) has a LOT more gold/brown in it than what they used as well. It's also missing the polished aluminum leading edges on the vertical and horizontal stabs.

Bill,
Thank you for the pics.
Could you tell me how to contact the owner of the P-51 mustang.
I would like to ask him a couple of questions about his exhaust shrouds.

Hi Zorby: glad you liked the ammo and gun bays on our P-47M Fire Ball. Everything in those bays was scratchbuilt, with the exception of the ammo. I came across them cruising Ebay once about a year and a half ago. I bought everything he had, which was four strings of 1/6 scale machined brass 50 cal. bullets and the links, which work just like the real ones did. You can load each bullet in individually. Nice to see coverage of Top Gun gets down to you all "down under."

Fire Ball will compete at several more events in the USA this year, and possibly be moved to a museum in Boxted England where the real Fire Ball flew from 60 years earlier.

Cheers,

Dave Gee

I notice that the P-47 does not have the under-wing bomb racks.
On the real P-47, I thought that those were built into to the wing.
Where they actually removable? Curious.

Hey Stickbuilder, Dave Gee and friends

Good to meet you all at TG and see many cool planes. Good to see the "full nine yards" there Dave on the ground and in there air...perfect weather all week!

My Ziroli P51 went down 3rd warm up flight on Tues before my Wed static...what a drag! But Nick Ziroli did get to see it fly.... Was my first TG and had a great time calling for Mitch Epstein and his B17...the drive was a long way from Boston but a lot of fun! Hopefully be back soon...I'm rebuilding it!

Matt

Harold,

I don't have that information available to me. Sorry, but someone else probably will.

Thanks, G-Pete. Look me up at WOR in September. Have a good safe trip up there. It should be great. I live in the Denver area, so it won't be so far for me to travel for that one!
