I bought and assembled a Aeroworks 42 % Extra, and I have to say that this is one of the best built and complete ARF kits that I have assembled to date however, I had a small incident last week end. I was flying and had a dead stick landing, so I looked under the engine mount, where I have the throttle servo mounted to a removable wood plate, and noticed that 3 out of the 4 of the cap bolts holding the cover in place were gone - this plate would normally be removed or modified for pipes. These bolts are screwed into blind nuts mounted in behind the plate. At first glance I thought they just vibrated out, but I was sure I used lock tight. They did not vibrate out, the heads broke off, the plate partially separated from the engine box, and the throttle moved enough to lower the idle to shut down the motor. If you mount your throttle servo in this plate, I would recommend that the plate be epoxied in, or the cap screws be up graded. I did not go back and review the manual, it’s possible that there is some statement mentioning this plate being epoxied in.

Thanks for sharing that info with us.
I was at the AMA Headquarters last weekend and got to see this Plane up close and personnel, , it Flew Great, Looked awsome and really presented good in the Sky.
One of the Unlimited Pilots there said 'this would be one of my first choices for a 40% airframe" and after seeing it Fly, I really want one.

The screws that hold that plate on were not intended to bear any load, whatsoever, other than the weight of the plate itself. Aeroworks does not show anywhere in the manual as it being a good idea to mount a throttle or choke servo to it, or even as being an option.
