Status: offline 		Hey guys, just got my Yak 50cc QB ready for its maiden, and ive all of a sudden found myself getting worried over the landing gear mod people have been talking about on here, i got my plane in early 2008 (around February), i got no instructions about modding the landing gear plate, i take it this is one of the latest generation of the yaks (it the one with the blue leading edge), so do i not need to do anything to it??? Has it already been done for me???? And as normal am i worrying over nothing!?!?!

Status: offline 		Dave the landing gear mod has aready been done on your plane so there is nothing to be worried about [)]

I would however take some thin CA and go over any of the wood to wood joints in the plane, this should be common practice on all arfs due to the humidity changes the kit goes through during shipping.

Status: offline 		Hey Guys. just had the gear fold under my 50cc Yak, 5/25/08. I have never bounced it in, stalled it at three or four feet above the ground and dropped it in like alot of guys do. Smooth grass runway just mowed. I made a little faster than normal landing do to a slight cross wind component, and having to cross control, using the wing low or sideslip method to keep the plane's ground track and the longitudinal axis aligned with runway center line to prevent from touching down sideways and imposing damaging side loads on the landing gear. Guys this is the biggest killer to most model landing gear. Most RC pilots just let their planes crab into the wind on landing, causing damaging side loads on the landing gear, and have no clue what is happening when they touch down in this manner, futhermore not being in the model it is hard to judge if you are lined up correctly or not, making what we think is a good landing, yet having the gear to fold OCH. Sounds like what I just did! OH WELL took her home, spent the afternoon repairing. Total time spent 6 hours. She's ready to go. Plan on going out tomorrow. I try to keep in mind something my Dad said alot What ever will be, will be, What ain't suppose to be, Just might Happen !
