*****CONSUMER BEWARE*****I BOUGHT THIS PLANE AND THE WING IN FLIGHT SNAPPED OFF DOING A MILD VERTICAL CLIMB..THE ALUMINUM CAN MATERIAL THEY USE FOR THE SPAR IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO HANDLE MANY FLIGHTS.THE PLANE WAS DESTROYED..CALLED NITROMODEL.COM AND THEY SAID THEY CANT DO NOTHING ABOUT THE SPAR NOT HOLDING UP...NITROMODEL.COM DOES NOT BACK UP DEFECTED PARTS ONLY A 30 WARRANTY...WHICH IN MOST CASES THE FIRST FLIGHT IS AFTER 30 DAYS..SO YOU REALLY DONT KNOW HOW IT IS TILL IT COMES DOWN..ALL I WAS ASKING FOR WAS TO HAVE THEM SEND OUT A NEW KIT SO I CAN MAKE THE CHANGES TO THE SPAR BY PUTTING A CARBON FIBER PIECE TO STRENGTHEN THE WING..PLUS THERE IS NO SUPPORT TO THE BOTTOM SIDE OF THE WING, IT COULD USE A SMALL SCREW TO HOLD THE SUPPORT BAR TO THE BOTTOM OF THE WING..THESE ARE THE PHOTOS OF THE AFTER MATH.....

Sorry about your loss.

I don't understand how a mild vertical climb could put enough stress on the wing to fold the aluminum tubing.

I've flown this plane for someone who had it so badly out of trim at first, that it went into a hard dive as I was trying to adjust it.

It got too fast and dove towards the ground, so my only recourse was to pull up rather hard.

After landing we examined the plane to see if it had been overstressed, and there was no damage, and that's after FAR more than a mild climb.

Could there have been enough play in the tube retainer as you received it, that would have allowed the wings to move up/down a bit?
I can imagine that if this was the case the lever "moment" of the wings acting on the tube, may have folded it, leading to the whole thing falling apart.

This would reflect a problem with the wing tube retention itself or it's supports.

Unless of course the tube you received had a hidden problem that was not otherwise visible.

For yucks though, try bending the remaining piece of the wing tube and see how much force it will accept.

It SHOULD handle over 40-50lbs...

e.g. anchor it on a vise or other retainer, and hang 40-50 lbs off of it.

It should easily handle this w/o bending.

If not it's TOO thin or weak!

you know now that you mention it there was a bit of movement in the wing when it was put together..which may have caused it to get weak and fold...but at the same time i did a good vertical climb that made it stall or hang on the prop for a bit and thought i would try it again...thats when it snapped when i pulled up to do another climb but it wasnt like a stabbed the stick down in one motion to put that much stress on the tube...still they wont do nothing about it because it was after 30 days....
