Just thought everyone would get a kick out of seeing the new Duratrax 1/14 rock crawler. No real news right now. Tower Hobbies has it listed for $240 RTR and $140 as a kit. It looks to be running two axle mounted 380 size motors and possibly four wheel steering.

axle mounted motors could be a good point, lower CG. if its 4ws for just $240 rtr thats not to bad. i wonder if the esc and radio will be cheap tho. i would rather see them use 540 motors, even tho it is smaller than the norm.
the body is alittle toyish looking imho. not bad for a 1/14. it looks more like a back yard basher that a true crawler.

Yea I tried looking, in hopes they'd have more information or even a video. Nothing yet though. Tower has pricing and pictures but no specs either.

That looks like a fun one to play around with. If nothing else, it would be a good one to mod. The Clod-based axles have always made for some great flexibility in making changes to the chassis.

i think its the size and body that makes it look like a toy. but the componants look fairly good. should crawl better than a stock WK(not saying much i know) it may look funny, but i bet it will be alot of fun to drive!

I wonder how capable this would be with an aftermarket/tuber chassis.

supposed to be the same thing with 1.9 tire with some 2.2's it would be doing pretty good.

Actually it's not supposed to be the same thing. There was a rumor that I read on a few forums that said those two trucks were the same but if you look closely they are pretty different. Look at the shock angle, the bumpers, the direction the servo is mounted, etc. If the Yokomo and Duratrax crawlers are the same vehicle they must have changed quite a bit between the two.

Hmmm, I had a feeling this would happen sooner or later. We're going to see an influx of crawling related gear rolling out this year, and if DTX is on board, you can bet there's tons more to follow from other companies. I'm not a big fan of Duratrax, although I do have a set of their Ultimate wrenches, and they're pretty dope. I applaud any attempt to get more people into crawling, but be careful, if its junk, they might turn off more people than anythng. At least its technicaly hobby grade

You know whos going to make a killer crawler when they get around to it.
Losi.
If its as good as there other stuff than it will be a good crawler.

I've been looking for a Lunch Box crawler to take along on the job. I think stretching this little beast out to a 12" wheel base & adding 2.2s should make a scale super class crawler

I would be interested in seeing one up close in real life but my LHS dont stock good stuff like this. This is a really neat looking little truck. I think some beadlock rims would be nice on it. The picture Duratrax has on their site of the truck that has been tricked out with the carbon fiber look parts and aluminum really looks hot! One of the neatest things about this truck is that is will not have any torque roll at all since the motor is mounted on the axles!. Having to buy 2 batteries and a dual charger sucks though. .

It won't have torque roll, but it will have Clodstall.
