Ok I have been doing the RC car and off road truck thing for a few years now and I really messed up the other day. I went out and bought one of those little annoying 2 channel micro helicopters! Now, you guessed it, I am hooked. So you know how it goes, now I want to get a real entry lever helicopter to start playing with. From what I have read (and from having this impossible to control 2 channel) I know I want to get a 4 channel co-axial model.
I have been doing some research and have found a couple I like. One is the Co-Comanche (Lama V4) that I can get a really good deal on here - http://www.helipal.com/co-comanche-army-green.html. - this one is cool because it comes with the simulator software included (plus it just looks really cool)
The other is the Blade CX2 which does look like a better quality bird but is more than twice the price. My question: is more than double the price is worth it for a newbee who is probably going to munch it anyway? Is the Co-Comanche a total POS or is it ok to start out with and move up later? Or should I just bite the bullet and get the CX2?
Your thoughts?

I have a CX2 and love it. The price you are paying is mostly for the improved 2.4ghz radio gear. It is pretty much a glich free system. I don't think you need to factor in sim time for a coax heli. You will find when you bring one home that they are pretty easy to get in the air. Doing fast flight and pattern flying is were you can challenge yourself. you will be able to get the basic hover down in the first night. The coax design allows them to just hang there without much input. I haven't flown the V4 so I can't really make a comparison for you there but I can endorse the CX2. Great little bird.

Good luck and have fun no matter which you choose.

I own both these heli's and they both fly great. One thing you may want to be cautious about the quality of the body. On the second flight of my co-comanche it suffered a rough landing and the body broke in the back as well as cracks to the front canopy area. If your just getting into flying RC heli's unless you can upgrade to better quality parts be prepared for purchasing alot of cheap plastic parts. Also if your heli can use Extreme blades be prudent and use them. They take alot of abuse where the cheaper ones which come with the heli's break apart often. Look for durability because as a novice you will be suffering hard landings and crashes.
