Wait, come to think of it, all you have to do is assign your flap channel to a three position switch and you will instantly have what you want. Full up flaps, half travel(15 degrees), and full down (30 degrees).

Hi Spidernad.
Thank you for the feed back, I have my flaps set up on a three step switch both work fine,
I can change the full travel on the servo but cant change the first step.
I can only presume i need to set up a mix so i can change the end and middle point.
There must be an easier way.
Thanks Regards.
Martin.

1/2 flap should be the center of travel for the servo. You center the servo (middle position on your three way switch) then adjust the linkage to give yourself the proper flap amount for 1/2 flap. Then you use the endpoint adjustments to set the neutal position and full flap position.

I think the fella in the last post hit it on the head.

You can also use your "subtrim" (if your radio has it) to adjust the middle position of your servo, just make sure to check the full travel in both directions again as I believe it will affect those too.
You can use a mix to make the servo stop in other positions. It will add or subtract movement to where the servo is stopping with the three pos. sw. already.
For example, if you add -5 or +5 to the channel at the end of it's movement in one direction in a mix it will change the movement by that much.
Use the two end points in the mix for your full up and full down flaps movement and the middle number in the mix for the half flaps adjustment.

If I'm explaining things you already know, please forgive me.

I just recently spent a lot of time on this same thing for my Cessna because I wanted four flap positions, Full up, 10 degrees, 20 degrees and 30 degrees,(full down)
I pulled my hair out for a couple days, I think my radio lacks some features that would have made it simpler, but I finally got some mixes that worked perfect and still have a little hair left. lol
Iused two switches, one (a two pos sw.) does 10 degrees and the other (a 3 pos. sw.) does 20, 30 or full up.

I was thinking of doing a video of howI set it up if anyone wants to use it.

Anyway, enough babble from me.

Cheers.

Hi Guys.
Thanks for the info.

It makes sence, When a transmitter already has a heap of programs already set
it makes it easier to set up the things you want to do, The down side is finding out
which program to use for which purpose, the instructions translated from Japanese
to english always looses some info.

Regards.
Martin.

Got an early Christmas present today!
Man, these props are Cool. So much like the real thing.

I also got a 4" Dave Brown ultimate spinner.
I picket it over the TruTurn spinner for a couple reasons.
First it doesn't have that deep, sharp, rough, knurling on the backplate where the prop comes in contact.
I've had problems with that destroying the back of carbon fiber props on my Edge and finally had to mill off the knurling to make it flat again.
Unfortunately that really isn't a complete solution since after milling, the prop blades are so close to the edge of the backplate that on wood props they will touch when the prop hub compresses after tightening.
I tried to get TruTurn to make it without knurling but they didn't hear me.
This spinner also has a longer sleeker shape than the TruTurn, which looks more like a full scale Cessna spinner.
Oh, and there is a "special cut" option when ordering from them where you can enter the brand and size of prop an they cut it perfictly to fit. So easy!

Here are some Pics.

(I know, I need an engine!)

Have you decided to keep your Cessna and if so have you started building it already?
I know a guy who is looking to buy one.

Spider, still have not started working on it. I have been working on getting parts I need. Who is looking for one? Might just put them in it. Tell him to email me.

Thanks you guys! Merry Christmas!
I love to build things. If only I had a machine shop, the possibilities are endless! lol
Let me know about all upcoming shows. I want to make as many as I can if it's possible.

Hello everybody, i am waiting for my 35% Cessna 182 to arrive from Thailand, can't wait for it to arrive. I have bought all the stuff i need to have it ready for flight. All i need to know from you guys who have already build and flown yours, is what type of servo arms are you using?? i would like to use aluminium servo arms like is use on my Jets for more safety. can any one tell me the length of the servo arms??
for the ailerons, elevators and flaps so can buy them to have them ready for assembly.
I also ordered mine with brakes due to the short runway we use over here in Malta.

cheers

Hi Martin,

Congrats on your TMMY Cessna purchase!

For the servo arms I think a 1" aluminum arm is plenty. I got 1.25" arms just to make sure they would be long enough to keep the links from coming to close or hitting the surface of the plane at full travel but I probably won't ever need the control surfaces to move that far on this type of plane anyway.
So a 1" should be fine, or a 1.25" inch arm if you want just a little more space.

If you look at the pictures in my post # 2115 and this post you can see the length of the 1.25" arm and how much room it has.

The double side flap arms in the pics are 1.5" and i'm only using the 1" hole. They make these arms in 1, 1.25, 1.5, 2" lengths, I just had these laying around from an old plane.

By the way, what color scheme did you order? Any pictures? Would love to see some!

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Dan

Hi, thanks for the quick reply, awesome pics. as for the colour scheme i order the new 2009 with red metallic pretty much like the one you have in the pics. i will know order the arms next week as tomorrow i have to go to Switzerland for a week. My model is suppose to be over here at the end of February. i will be using a DLE 111 engine, it gives 56 Lbs of trust, i think it should be ok for this model. what are you using on yours??

regards

Martin.

The red 2009scheme is very nice!

Most of the guys are using the DA 150. I wonder is the DLE 111 enough? The model will weigh around 75 lbs when finished so I'm not sureif 56 lbsof thrust is enough?
You can see pictures of the engine I want to use on page 44 post # 1088 on this forum.
It's a Rotomotor 170 4-stroke. Not out yet though!
