AFSalmon -> New Yak Stiffy - video (4/27/2008 1:55:53 PM)

I shot this video of Forrest flying the new Copperhead Yak Stiffy. It was a little windy but no problem for Forrest and the new Yak Stiffy. These Stiffys are a ton of fun and super durable!

Awesome!!! Cant wait to get mine. I am really liken the Extra Stiffy. Finally got a motor and gear in it. I have done Full throttle Blenders starting from WAY up their where I couldnt see it and come down about just below tree top level and Hammer the crap out of it in a blender. Nothing breaks or snaps!!!
I also did a parachute three foot off the ground and smacked the pavement when it landed flat and didnt hurt it at all!!! I love abusing the plane you cant break it!!!!

Kevin, very nicely done! I especially like the low rolling harriers. You really make that Extra look good. I think you and Forrest need to get together sometime and teach us older guys a few tricks!

We can probably do that. Might take an extra pigeon or two.

Here is mine just out of the box one flight ago with the WrongWay Cam!

Question, how do you guys keep from breaking the counterbalances? By the end of my 4th flight I had broken it twice on seemingly normal landings.

Stop doing harrier landings in the grass with the elevators fully up. [:D] Actually we just hand catch our foamies all the time. Much safer than trying to land a light foamy type plane in the grass. If you fly off pavement or your street then this is not a problem. Just land normally.

Time to get out the lawnmower!!! I ain't good enough to catch em.

Well I tried to catch mine......I am not sure if it safer to catch it or not. The vids are all in fun ouf course. But I wonder if you can put the stiffening rod in the elevator and wings why cant you mold one in the stab conterbalance to keep them from breaking....it truly is a weak spot on an otherwise strong airframe. One more thing,, maybe if you set a brass insert in the two holes that the bolts go into for the lading gear it would be more durable as well. I hardened them in the begining...then I filled them with gorilla glue.....I know landing in tall grass but it was just mowed today and grows fast in Florida. Then........... this plane would truly be indestructable.[:D][:D]

BTW can you come and catch my stiffy for me?

Richard D Bahmann aka/Wrongway -> RE: New Yak Stiffy - video (10/14/2008 4:16:18 AM)
