ginnz -> What the heck is wrong with my BH 500 se pro? (4/27/2008 11:59:15 PM)

well, last week i broke a mainshaft on the 500, i replaced it, and did a test hover or 3, and it was ok. this afternoon, after a week of 100 mile an hour 24 hr a day winds, i got some relief, it was only gusting to 25 kph... -) (southern manitoba spring always has 40 days of wind!)

anyways, i took out the 500, and after 2 minutes noticed a problem. it seems the elevator sevo had a broken tooth. so, i replaced the servo with an E-Flite S-75 Sub-Micro servo i had kicking around. put it all in and had to make some adjustments, but it all seemed good. i got a good hover, then noticed the tracking off a bit. so i adjusted the tracking and shelved it.

2 hrs later or so the wind was really down, so i tried it again, wanting to check the tracking. when i spool it up now it starts to lean forward, as i lift off, it slowly turns aroundleft and starts to lean, totally not in control...! ?

i restarted it, thinking the gyro wasnt initialized, and it did the same dang thing!lifts, leans over, and turns right around. the gyro light is on, if i grab the heli and twist side to side, the gyro is moving the tail.im using the Art-Tech v2 H-H gyro. i even re-binded the RX (using an ar6200 with DX6I). its almost like my mixing is all screwed up. but on the bench it seems ok.

im at a loss here. any help is appreciated!

well, i dunno what to say here.

i put the battery in again, and she hovers! i think it was gyro related. somehow...... weird.

My rotor leans forward when the battery is low. Maybe that was it?

Coud the new servo be the problem? Can they be different types? Maybe it moves at a different speed. Did you check the other servos for damage? Check tail servo linkage to be free and tail servo for gear damage. Belt is good and on with right tension?

give that gyro a good 10 seconds after plugging it in to initalize.

thanks for all the reply's guy's!

i cant figure it out.... i thought at first the rear control rod was binding.... but didnt do anything to free it. also the servo is different, but the swash is moving good in relation to the other servo's. i have to narrow it down to a gyro problem. i guess..... as usual its been SUPER WINDY here, so when it dies down, ill giver another go.

if you change brand of one of the servos on the cyclic, then you need to replace them all with the same brand/model.
