If a person is currently flying 424 races and choses to fly in 428 is he disqualified from competing in 424 again.

Not unless the specific local area has a rule against it, but I'm not aware of any areas that do, especially if somebody's just moving up.

Hi Richard, glad you are liking 424! You and your wife did great at Mulberry for your first race, and I hope you guys (and girls?) do want to move up one day. The current rules for us state:

SEMPRA 2005 RULES
...
2) AIRPLANE SPECIFICATIONS:
Event 422: Quarter 40
See AMA rules.

Event 424: Sport Quickie
This event is intended for Novice/Entry Level pilots and pilots that no longer fly 422 or 428 classes. A pilot from 422 or 428 classes must wait at least 3 years or request special privilege from SEMPRA Board Members to fly in 424. A pilot in 424 class may not fly in 422 or 428 classes and still fly in 424.

You can view the current rules at: NMPRA and look on the left side under racing documents "SEMPRA Rules". Give me a call if you want to chat!

Hope all is good with you two!

Hi Scott, missed yea down in Fort Lauderdale. Well it looks like I've can't fly 428. I just wanted to fly more races. I don't want to get out of 424. If I did there are very few 428 races and I would have less oppurtunity to race. Thanks for the info. Dick

Hi Matt, Yes I do fly at bridge rd. I think we met at Fort Lauderdale. It sure would be great if there were more races. Looks like the first will be in the Fall. Myself and another flyer are going to go up to New England in June and fly in Farmington Ct one week and then Maryland the next. Dick

I wish I could have been there too! I love flying there and always have a great time. That was actually where I had my first race! I have a lot on my financial plate right now, but will be OK after the daughters wedding in 5 weeks. I will be down there in September for sure, so don't tear up your good stuff till I get a run at you! I am not sure how the points stand right now, but I would like a few more chances myself! How about a race at your home field?

Call me if you need any help,

I'll see you in September and I'll just keep building. Love to do it at my home field, but it's way too small.

Hey Charlie,

I got the pieces and they are 90% in 3D. My digital calipers died, but all I need to do is add the holes thru the top mount. I should be able to send the files and the parts to you by the end of the week. ACAD 2008 still o.k.?

Hey Scott,

I need your thoughts and advice.....

I'd like to have a kinda sorta impromtu fun honor system kinda race with buddies sorta thing in Mulberry one weekend. 424 planes of course...

Set up poles, everybody can call for each other. Call your own cuts, honestly. Make our own matrix on paper....No judges, per say. One of us can flag while we're not racing. 3 or 4 planes heats...

I'd like to invite some 428/422 guys to fly too. I have a few in mind and I'm okay with letting them fly my planes...

I think it would be a blast....We can put out a feeler and see who else might wanna join us for the day....

Everybody brings their own fuel, we can tach each other if we want but it's probably not necessary....Just a bunch of racers chasing each other around the poles. TT 40's , 9 x 6 props, all the same rules , so to speak....

We would all make sure to do our absolute best to keep from getting tangled up with each other. Very important to go home with all planes in tact if we can....

Gimme some advice man....How can we pull this off? Could be a whole lotta fun....And good practice....

Scott,

I know of at least 8 -9 people that would like to do it.....Including a couple newbies....That would be a great fun, no stress, intro to 424 racing for them...I know they'd be hooked.....

HELP!!

Hey Guys, I would love to do a 424 practice / workshop over the summer. I am presenting on the upcoming race, prices for some runway additions and things at the meeting this week so I will see if I can get a day set aside for a workshop day. I am assuming a Saturday? Let me know about a day that would work.

I will start another post on this and see what we get for participation....
