Default Air Devil ssc pics

hey guys/gals, I got thru with my air devil ssc plane today and took a few pictures for you to critique. I dont have an all up weight yet, will have to wait for my flying buddy's scales for that. I started the new magnum up this afternoon for the first time and give it a couple of 'heat up the cylinder and let it cool back down ' 2 minute runs. I cut 3 and 1/2 inches off each end of the 71 inch wing. Now lets see if I can remember how to post pics ...... Oh, if you want to know where to get one or three of these planes, Contact Wayne Voyles, I think his call sign is waynebang here on RCU- a SUPER nice guy to deal with and he always has answered my questions in a quick manner.
Now lets see how good thing thing will get some streamers for me!

John good looking bird. That looks very similar to the battle axe.

Looks like the same basic concept, but with more wing area, a larger vertical tail, and a foam and something center pod rather than wood. All good-looking upgrades over the Battle Axe, IMHO. I haven't seen it fly, but I have seen some of the Axe-like planes from that part of the country, and they fly quite well.

John,
As others have said the plane borrows heavily from the Battle Axe but that is not surprising. The Battle Axe, as kitted by Treneff RC, was designed by Chris Quinn. Chris and Wayne are good friends and exchange a lot of information. Wayne is also the designer of the Lanier Ripper and Slasher and also kitted a very nice 1/2A combat plane a couple of years ago. Wayne designed the Lanier SSC Warbirds - the Mustang and BF109. His planes fly very well.

I bought my Air Devil from him off of ebay.. We at our club use it as our " Bomber " plane, pulling 2 streamers. As I fly it ( with an os 25 mounted ) 2 allied planes protect me and 2 axis attack me.. I did mod it to be very much like the battle axe, which a majority of us fly. The center pod is built up ply just like the axe for strength, I did leave the wing as is.
It fly's pretty close to the axe, with the addition of the weight of the built up box and standard servos, the speed is equal to the axe's, although vertical is better on the air devil.

Hi Fly,
yes, Wayne is a good guy to deal with.
So you have a 25 mounted on yours huh? I'll bet it screams!!! Thats a good idea that you have there- to mount 2 streamers on your plane with fighter escort and then let others try to get you- I like that !! Sounds pretty neat. [sm=thumbup.gif]
