There may be a simple answer for this but for the life of me I can't see it. My understanding is that for long term storage, a lipo pack should be charged to about 50 percent capacity. What harm is done if the pack is charged 100 percent and then stored for say 6 months or so?
Many thanks....
Mike

I had 3 2200mah lipos ruined by leaving fully charged for 6 weeks.

They indicated full charge after charging but would not last more than 30-60secs.

Most new packs are about 3.80 -3.85 volts per cell.

The storage feature on one of my chargers charges to 3.85v per cell.

My Hyperion Charger manual says 55-60% charged. My two brand new Airthunder packs are sitting @ 3.8vpc or 25%. Who really knows is a good question.

Tom, thank you. I read the article. It seems that a full charge combined with ambient temperature produces a capacity loss which is permanent. The higher the surrounding temperature is the worse the loss becomes.

Hello Mike,

Please understand that is the theory. There are lots of people that store their packs fully charged and report that they have no problems at all. I believe most of them try to keep them cool, but they are still stored fully charged.

On the other hand, I usually don't worry too much about storage... I "crash and destroy" before I "store" packs to death...
