Ordered a teal one Saturday. I have a purple one almost ready to fly – just need to attach the tail wheel, balance and set the throws. After it pays a visit to the club meeting Friday, it’ll out to fly as soon as the weather looks good.

I wonder if Tower is running low on the teal stock, or this is going to be phased out of the tower catalog like so many of Sig’s kits?

It was designed to fly on the Norvel .074, and since they are out of business as far as we know,,,I doubt they are making any more of them.....Rog

Yes, but the Magnum .15 works great in this plane ( my setup ) as i'm sure the OS .10la and .15la will as well, it's a great little flier, i hope they keep selling them.

They now show separate instructions for making them electric also...it does fly great with a .15...Norvel originally said they were moving to a new facility and upgrading, but would be back making engines and then just faded out , I guess a couple of years ago...Rog
dont remember the all up weight

In the other forum (RCGroups) was a review of the Little Something Extra, but it was converted to electric. The plane for the review weighed 29 ounces which is what my OS .10 powered plane with (2) 9g, (2) HS-81MG servos, Berg 7-ch receiver and 730mAh NiMH battery weighs. Looks like there was no weight savings on the reviewers conversion over keeping it nitro, and Sig dropped an ounce. The advantage appears to be gained in per flight air time over the shorter nitro runs. This is from the review:

Sig Now Provides Directions to Electrify the Lil Extra ARF!

Since the beginning of this review, Sig has also tested this great little plane with electric power, and is in the process of writing a single page instruction, including photos, which will be included in all future kits. The following information is directly from Sig:

Our Recommended Lil' Extra ARF electric conversion uses the following:
• 1 each Maxx Products Himax HB2815-1400 Brushless Motor ("In-runner" type)
• 1 each Maxx Products Clam Shell Motor Mount #ACC314
• 1 each 25 amp Brusless ESC (we used the Phoenix 25 progamable unit)
• 1 each APC 8 X 4E Thin Electric Propeller #LP0804E
• 1 each LiPoly Battery Pack, 3S, 11.1v, 1500maH - 2100maH
• 1 each Radio Shack DPDT On/Off Switch

The above components, easily installed per our instruction sheet, yielded a finished, ready to fly Lil' Extra ARF model that weighed exactly 27.9 oz. (Nice to be less than Mr. Llewellyn's listed weight of 29 plus ounces.) The flying characteristics are spectacular. We've flown this model in relatively high winds with no real problems. The model is capable of extreme aerobatics yet remains quite comfortable to fly. Flight times - using the Thunder Power 2100maH 3S pack - are in the neighborhood of 15 minutes. Take-offs are less than 10 feet on our grass field. Using full rudder deflection, the knife-edge characteristics are very good and more than acceptable. Of special interest is the fact that no additional access hatches were required to fit the batteries into the model - sometimes daunting for some people.

I have an OS .15LA for mine, it should be plenty of power, my first one had the norvel.074 it wouldnt even stay in the air, others had better success, they would fly but thats about it..I had a magnum .15XL and put it on, the last flight went from my hand to the ground to the trash, the flight before that the throttle stuck wide open and when it FINALLY ran out of fuel,it was an honest "thankyajesus" moment, I was all over the place, shelter, parkin lot, 1/2mile out, you name it..you dont need a high $$ engine, LA,FP either should be fine for this, even a .10 LA oughta work good....Rog

See...this is why I hate lurking here. You guys catch all the great deals on the web and now I have another plane on the way (purple one) I've got two .15 FPs and a Norvel .074. The .074 is NIB so I kindof hate to run it. I assume a .15 FP will do the job and is comparable to the .15 LA? (I've never owned any of the LA series...have a .40AX that screams!)

Dave

Well dave keep us all posted.
I have the sig se with a pro 46 and it is a pretty good plane but I could use more power in it.
I also have a twist 40 with the os 61 fx on it and it just screams yet lands like a feather.
And that what I am hoping for in the herr se. What engine will make her hover with power to spare.

Nope sorry both engine and plane are still in boxes...no motorhead, but as I understand it the FP is just a tad more powerful than the LA, but they both run like a timex, I dont have the skills to hover, but I'm sure the Magnum would have...Rog
