lownslo -> synthetic harder to clean up??? (5/4/2003 4:28:19 PM)

I recently started using fuel with 100% synthetic oil. Is it my imagination, or is the residue from the synthetic oil harder to clean off my plane than a mix with castor in it? It keeps smearing and after about 3 passes.... it finally looks OK.... thanks...lownslo.

No, its not your imagination. Most synthetics are more difficult to clean off of a surface compared to castor.
The reason a few synthetic based fuels are considered cleaner is because they use a synthetic component that has a low enough flash point where a portion of it is burned during the combustion process.

And after it burned off, there is nothing left to lubricate your engine!
