I'm gonna be getting a new spur and bell combo. I want to do wheelies, and my extended savage with a 52/14 combo won't do it very often. I was wanting your recomendations, and I thought it would be good to have a thread with a list of them from everybody. Tell us how your truck does wheelies, accelerates, and the top speed with your setup.

It depends on your engine, transmission, etc., but I am using 19/52, the 3-speed tranny, and an OS 30VG. It's very fast (faster than my OFNA buggy) and wheelies "too much". I can hold a wheelie as long as I want, flip it over on it's back anytime i want. It also can pull wheelies when it shifts, or even sometimes just when accelerating, if I start slow and then nail it under speed. Too much engine I think.

I am using 19/52 because i already had a handed steel set with the 52, so I bought a matching 19. This is the max diameters you can install without chassis modifications. I could probably reduce my wheelies by going 19/49 or 19/47.

I believe the common ratio for the more powerful engines is 17/47.

Any ratios smaller than these should help with wheelies. As you are having trouble with 14/52, you will have to go to a smaller CB (if they make them). I believe your trouble is the extended wheelbase which makes it a lot harder to wheelie.

What engine are you using? Get some OFNA or Mugen aluminum shoes with a vented bell and 1.0mm or 1.1mm springs and it will wheelie.

I just double checked, and its a 16/48 setup. I think I will try a 14 cb for s&g's. I still think my LRP's bottom end is a little weak, but not sure whether its the tune or what. I have messed with it alot and it always seems like its running rich at idle.

I'd think 16/49-52 would do it, but with the extended TVP your going to need a torquey lowend. Is the compression or pinch still good on the LRP? If not it might require a rebuild with new sleeve and piston, and for the rich problem the Carb may be suspect. I had to replace my carb and it was a total better performing (Axial) engine. It's gona require some trial and error and some greenage$$$$. I just bought a Picco so I'd get wheelie's on demand and some outrageous speed with 18/47 gearing on stock TVP with the reverse mod and 3spd tranny. So a somewhat heavier Savage. Well happy hunting Brett, and good luck.
