lou1947 -> Super tigre g3250 carb adjustment (4/29/2008 3:14:10 AM)

I have a new G3250 and I am having a heck of a time adjusting the carb. I am using Byrons ST fuel with 10 % nitro and 10% oil. It seems that if I get the low and high adjusted then it loads up on the mid range to the point thay I am afraid of flying the plane.It loads up so bad that at times the engine dies when throtling up. I have played with the carb for hours and can not seem to get the motor to run correctly. I feel just like trashing the motor.I have tried leaning the low as much as possible to the point that the motor runs to lean.Any help would be appreciated. Should I try a different fuel? Thanks for any replies

Not enough oil, Lou. Check the manual specs.

Use regular oil content low nitro fuel until it is broken in. Try a OS "F" glow plug.

Thanks for the replies. Do you think that will clear up the mid range?

Actually more oil will not help the midrange, it will make it worse! 10% nitro and 10% oil is IMO the optimum fuel for this engine and the oil package should be castor/syntetic. Make sure the engine is running slightly rich all the time. OS-F glowplug also works best.

SuperTiger engines are built to run 15% Nitro and 18% oil when your engine is closer to being broke in you will figure out that your high speed jet is set to rich. SuperTiger 3250's like about a gallon run yhrouh them. Read your break in info, I'm running 3 of these engines now and this is what worked for me.Break her in at high rpm's with a fat setting on carb.If you lean it out now you will be sorry. Ihave been playing with RC for over 45 years' read instructions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A lot of information above is not correct.

Your SuperTigre G3250 should use a fuel with NO LESS than 15% oil content until it is well-broken-in....that means about 2 gallons' worth of running or so. After that, you can go to a fuel with 10%-12% oil content as long as it's mostly castor oil. The engines were originally designed to run with the oil being 100% castor, no synthetic at all. Nitro content can be 0%-10%, but 5% usually is about the optimum. They were not designed for higher nitro content. People have had success with a wide variety of glow plugs. We've run O.S. #8, O.S. #A3, and O.S. Type F successfully. It depends upon the installation, the fuel, the weather, and your tuning technique. You'll have to just "try and see" to get the plug that works best for your particular installation.

Please see the carburetor tuning instructions in the SuperTigre Support Forum. Those instructions apply to all SuperTigre engines.
