I was at the longbeach grand prix last weekend and was talking to the guys with the world record holding electric "stock" style drag cars and they informed me they just used giant brush motors and a kind of lipo battery that's better than a lipo and doesn't catch fire. They told me the name of a company that would sell it to the rc community. After some digging I found their home page. Here you go. http://www.a123systems.com/#/products/p1
I also was walking around in the convention center and saw a guy with an rc booth. All of his stuff was registered Ferrari junk but he did have a tl-01, but it wasn't... it wasn't even a hbx. It's from a company called NQD (Newqida). So after a load of digging I found it. It doesn't show the naked chassis but trust me this IS a tl-01. http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&keywords=NQD%20RADIO%20CONTROL&index=blended&page=1
(it's the red skyline, #5) I'll try to find a site with a naked pic of it.

Yes its an NQD Skyline.. It is, infact a TL-01 clone but with Toy Electronics on it... So rip the Toy electronics off it, install a Decent ESC and Radio gear and you have your self a hobby spec RC
