I had a Longeze from Nitro Models that was a great plane to fly with a .53 size engine, but when it hit the ground because the Canard control linkage came off, the plane EXPLODED. This was a rear engine pusher configuration until it hit the ground nose first. The engine goes through the fuselage and takes out every thing in it's way. I wish I had a camera to show the crash site, but I could not have done more damage with a sludge hammer. Oh well, may the pieces (VERY VERY SMALL PIECES) rest in pease.

One guy around here had a foam jet pusher YEARS ago, he landed it rough and the thing sort of smashed the nose..this broke the engine partially loose and the throttle stuck wide open.. as everyone watched the carnage it began to eat itself ! the motor running wide open somehow had enough support to stay running but it was wobbling around taking big bites out of the foam, it would trow rooster tails of foam up in the air..the prop would dig in twist the motor somemore and it would start devouring a new section of the plane.. it left the crash site looking like a fresh snow had just fell !

I am not sure it looked like a sludge hammer had hit it, but it was bad!

Wish you could have taken pics !

I saw an RC Helicopter crash one time, the throttle stuck open on that, too. It continued whirring around chopping just about everything in sight until the main rotor blades shattered to little pieces. In the process, the rotor head bent and the thing got worse.. overheated, then finally siezed. Made quite a mess of that expensive piece of hardware, and everything within about 6 feet of the thing. I wish I had a picture of THAT mess.

I built a SPAD Canard about 4 years ago and had maybe 500 flights with it, including one mid-air and 3-4 bad crashes. The engine never came off. I recently redesigned it to have a swept wing. You can see it at http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7388836/tm.htm . Even though it has landed up-side-down once and did a cart wheel another time, I have made no repairs to it yet, other than some bent pushrods. The photos were made after these crashes.
