Went to a great Quickie 25 race this weekend at the CENTRAL CAROLINA RC MODELERS club in Highpoint, NC. They also had a AT-6 race. The Quickie 25 race went quite well with plenty of action flying with some exciting heats from start to finish. The combination of the OS .25 FX and the 424 airframe works very well. I would like to give a big praise to Jay and his group for being so hospitable and sponsoring such a great event. I do plan to be back for the fall event. Unfortunately I got so busy I did not take any pictures. Hopefully someone will chime in and post a few.

Yep! Jay and his club put on a great race as they usually do. We had a great time. Bob, you need to post a pic of your Buckshot plane so we can see how the combo looks.[)]

CCRC will be hosting the next Quickie 25 race on September 21st. Not absolutely sure if we will run an AT-6 Nostalgia Race afterwards again or not, but we probably will continue to do so, until attrition of the airplanes prevents us (no more VIC-tory rolls after the races, please!!!).

OK Vic, here is a picture of the Buckshot. She was designed for the Quickie 25 event. Using a standard OS Max .25 FX with Hayes motor mount. All 424 requirements have been met but I am using a different airfoil for the reduced speed seen and have cleaned up many of the drag points. I had to add 6 oz of lead to make the minimum weight limit so she can be built light.
Yep, a conventional built up wing with hardwood spars and light plywood webbing. I've did some deflection testing on this wing and it looks really good. The wing builds on a flat table with the aid of rib tabs. Fuselage is all tab and lock construction which makes it almost impossible to build crooked. All parts precision laser cut for accuracy. This model required no trim at all during first flights!!
She can be built either "V" tail, "T" tail (Vic has that one) or conventional tail. All linkages are inboard. The main focus of the BuckShot is to have a model that is easy to build, versatile tail configuration and competitive to fly. I must say she did well on her first time out this weekend.
How's that Vic?

For your September 21st race why don't you consider adding 424 with the TT-40's. The 424 class would bring in more racers from the NC/SC and maybe even some of the guys from the Bowie Maryland racing group.

Bill, A couple things. We raced two pole and the club really doesn't have enough room for the setbacks required for a santioned 424 race. Nor a three pole course. Also the rules are still set for >.40 size racing to have the set backs so C-40 is a bit of a stretch too. We did a C-40 demo last year after the T-6 event and the club/CD decided to go with the Quickie 25. Honestly I'm glad you didn't come up. It gave me a chance to win, you guys would've spoiled the pond.

Mike, I think James Barr, John McDermott and I are planning on going to Mac race. I don't about Tommy. John and I are planning to fly a few 422/428 racers during lunch to get ready for the NATS.

Seth and I have been kicking around the idea of using a non-club location for a 3-pole race but we are just kicking it around at this point. Right now we are focused on the Speed Rally we are hosting at our field on June 28. Bill, you and JD can bring your 422 planes and show us what fast looks like.
