I can not fly at this time, sadly. I have stripped out all the screw holes in my nice little Hyperion motor. Anyone know the best way to handle this? The motor is only a few months old so maybe they will send me the lower piece of the barrel that has the screw holes. I left a message with the guy I bought it from so maybe he has the solution. I was also thinking i could re-tap the holes. Since I do not have a tap set, that would be expensive to fix it that way.

Any thoughts would be kewl....

Z

You may try this... your risk. But in the past when I've stripped something, which I often do, I can re-tap the hole with another screw. If its imperial you have to use metric and vice versa. Because of size differences, one being always slightly larger or smaller than the other.

What I have done is to find a self tapping or metal screw that is slightly larger and slowly screw it in and back it out. aA very little at a time. Screw in until its tight then a tad further, then back it out to clean out the threads. I have been saved by doing this many times. But you have to make sure you are going in straight and go slow. You can't just torque your way thru or you will remove all chances of rethreading without a tap.

cheers

Yo Dawg....You inspired me to use a self tapper. It worked like a charm! Thanks, I was afraid to do it but it's done and I am flying.....

Peace,

Z
